On this 10th anniversary of Titanfall 2, we want to take a moment to honor Vince Zampella, the CEO / co-founder of Respawn Entertainment.
Vince tragically passed away at the end of 2025, less than 2 weeks after TGA.

this is my greatest fear as an anti-ai uefn dev in 2026. if you put out something of extraordinary quality with your bare hands, people WILL assume it's made with ai because of how good it is. the internet's negativity poisoning has finally found itself a good reasoning for hating good games, "but this might be ai even though i have no proof"
With all this AI first nonsense from Epic, stuff like MCP putting out insanely complex Verse systems, and tons of UEFN developers claiming "AI code is okay because [reason]," I can't just trust that something this high quality from a team of unnamed developers is totally AI-free. Obviously, the art side of it is phenomenal and I know for sure that's all human art, but the Verse logic behind the scenes just feels too good to be true.
I'd love to be wrong here, which is why I'd love to figure out who wrote the Verse logic.

I understand being cautious of AI, we all are, but to imply an experienced developer & artist who has actively spoken out against AI could be using it is disrespectful & rude to the time & effort they've put in, especially on a post celebrating their creation.

I can't even find the words for this, I'm just in absolute shock at what a monumental loss this is. He should've been voicing those characters until he was in his 80s. A once in a generation talent.

It's been brought to my attention thanks to someone messaging me a user has AIGenerated a featherstone model on a VRchat avatar site. Charging money for it too. Not only is this stolen from me without any sort of permission but its scamming people too. (Link to report in replies)

My personal take is that I think you can acknowledge the wrongdoings Epic is (& has been for years) doing, while also still being excited for Teto and/or other collabs.
It's fine to admit this is cool! It is cool! It's also fine to admit Epic is a god awful company
