Keeping my @yamato_19191129 packing slip as a souvenir. $30 to ship a large suitcase across the country, picked up right at the airport. Can’t beat that service and value!
Didn't catch them all but found some fun ones (wasn't trying too hard, they just caught my eye!). Japan manhole covers
Tokyo/Nagoya (super cute water strider!)
Have had some great coffee in Japan but no cup will be as memorable as Shinkansen Coffee. It’s a pour over through a machine (there’s a little video with music) — the taste is great and it hits the spot so nicely after lugging yourself to the more busier central train station.
"Cities aren't loud, cars are"
Thought of this line many times as I travel through Japan. Their cities are *so quiet*, despite millions of people!
People on foot and cyclists rule here. Cars go 30km/h (or slower!) in residential neighbourhoods. High RPM left for the highways.
Every train I board in Japan, all that comes to mind is “Why is there still no weekend service from Toronto to Waterloo?”
Getting absolutely spoiled over here 👍😩
My Japanese is rudimentary so I've been using Google Lens plenty, but realized this morning I can use Claude. This is 100x better.
Perhaps we are a decade or less away from truly frictionless language?
The cleanliness of Japanese cities is hurting my brain. I've hardly seen garbage on streets (which lack trash cans!)
Most Canadian cities are objectively filthy. I love home, but gosh we can do so much better.
Respect for public space matters.
