I’m a 20-year-old young man living an extremely difficult life. I carry the responsibility of my family of nine, while also trying to take care of myself, continue my education, and pay my university tuition. But there is a question that hurts me deeply: Why do young people around the world get to live safe lives while I have to endure all this suffering? Why must I carry so much pain and pressure at an age when I should be experiencing the best years of my life? I dream of living like other young people around the world, of being free, living in peace and safety, and studying without fear or worrying about my university fees or how to provide food for my family. But we live in Gaza, surrounded by a genocidal war, terrible days, and famine, where securing even the most basic necessities of life has become a daily struggle. I’m not dreaming of a luxurious life, and I’m not asking for anything impossible. All I want is to live in peace, see my family safe, and have the chance to experience my youth as every human being in this world deserves. Is it fair that all a 20-year-old young man dreams of is a safe life, a meal for his family, and a future where he doesn’t have to fear what tomorrow will bring? 💔🥺
