The #NutrientNeutrality amendment has been published. With these harmless-looking words, Government wants to disapply the #HabitatsRegulations to allow pollution without mitigation in England's most sensitive nature sites. Parliamentarians concerned about rivers, plz vote "no".

South Yorkshire Bat group have just gone home after the most amazing two nights filled with horseshoe bats (and other wildlife) from start to finish! We managed two emergence counts, five roosts, one bat in the hand and lots of unforgettable moments-such as the GHB up a tree!

Oh dear, oh dear. The Ministry of Truth delivers it's latest Newspeak broadcast. "We've made HUGE progress on water quality." Number of rivers reaching 'Good' ecological status. 2012 = 24% 2014 = 19% 2019 = 14% 2027 = 6% (current government projection) (1/3)
Today, we’ve set out our #PlanforWater to achieve cleaner, more plentiful water for people and nature. 💧 Commitments cover: 🏗️ increased investment in infrastructure 🚫 stronger regulation 🏞️ tougher enforcement for polluters Read more: gov.uk/government/news/new-p…

🧵1/4 The Retained EU Law Bill: - Is an economic & environmental wrecking ball 👩‍⚖️Would allow Gov to change laws with almost no scrutiny ⛔️Won't allow improvement of environment protections due to “regulatory burden” The #REULBill must be stopped greeneruk.org/sites/default/…

📢 BREAKING ❗️ The govt dashboard of laws affected by the retained EU Bill has been updated. 1781 environmental regulations are in 🔭 covering pesticides, food, nature, air/water quality etc This whopping increase of > 1200 laws shows the huge environmental risks of the bill.

It just keeps getting worse. On what planet is slashing the number of affordable homes, reversing proposed ban on no-fault evictions & trashing environmental protections a rational answer? Unless of course the question was how do we increase homelessness, inequality & insecurity?
Exclusive: Ministers are drawing up plans to increase threshold at which developers must build affordable housing from 10 homes to 40 or 50 Move would bolster small & medium-sized developers but lead to number of affordable homes built falling by a fifth

There's a growing backlash against artificial lawns, and now the Royal Horticultural Society has banned them from their world famous summer shows. @alextomo finds out how plastic grass can lead to habitat loss. You can watch the full report on Channel 4 News at 7pm.

BAT PEOPLE. Here's some very intresting pictures a friend sent me of a bat that apparently died after choking on its dinner. I'm thinking it might be a beetle from the look of the wing? Anyone come across anything like this before?

Looks shit all year round, drainage runs off freely so you flood some other poor sod, requires little maintenance until weeds pop up and it smells like dog piss. It's the ideal solution if you have another planet you can move to when we've wrecked this one 👍
Artificial grass looks great all year round, drains freely, is weatherproof and requires very little maintenance. It’s the ideal solution. Eden Landscapes can help transform your garden. Find out more here: edenlandscapes.ltd.uk/

Government wont ban or regulate Astroturf yet habitat loss continues in UK gardens on a daily basis. My compromise is introducing an Ecological Damage Tax for Astroturf to deter its use and encourage more Wildlife and Climate friendly gardens. Please sign petition.parliament.uk/petit…

It is bonkers that we spray poisons harmful to wildlife and ourselves in our streets, gardens, even playgrounds - all in the name of tidyness. Time to stop! Please sign and RT if you agree petition.parliament.uk/petit… #BanUrbanPesticides #SilentEarth @PAN_UK

Prioritising individual animal welfare can clash with conserving whole species and can risk negative outcomes for biodiversity conservation. An open letter to animal rights folks. Thread 👇

Plastic grass has no benefits for wildlife, has a high carbon footprint, and sheds micro-plastics which wash into rivers & seas. While real grass offers food & shelter for wildlife, increasing biodiversity. More about wildlife- and climate-friendly lawns: bit.ly/3wE67P8
