Ministers gave a vital contact tracing contract to Serco who today celebrated a 53% increase in profits for the first half of the year. The Tories have privatised throughout this pandemic ignoring shortcomings. They should build on existing public sector experience instead.

There are 3.7m key workers on less than £10 an hour. They kept us going in this crisis. The chancellor should have given them a payrise, not a dining out discount for the well-off.

The pool is so calm and peaceful this morning, with only the occasional rumble of passing traffic from Broad Lane to break the quiet. Hopefully we will be open again soon ... #openourpools
