“The Joy of Basketball” is 350 pages of words and illustrations about Allen Iverson, Manu Ginobili, Malice in the Palace, Feral Bigs, Heat Day Ones, and the NBA’s last 25 years. I wrote it with @earlboykins for @ABRAMSbooks

Brian Scalabrine now says it was actually Paul Pierce who requested the Celtics trade Jaylen Brown.

It's a week into the season and the NBA is averaging the most possessions per game, shortest average possession length, highest average pickup distance, and most possessions with at least three offensive players crashing in the tracking era. Playing very hard for 82 games!

UPDATE:
How did a mysterious NBA Twitter user know about Malik Beasley's involvement in a betting scandal… before the NBA?
Turns out, he's the cousin of an alleged co-conspirator in the Jontay Porter case, with a private meme-coin chat. We found @FreeMoose_NBA — then he vanished again.
On latest @CookiesHoops pod "PRIVATE EQUITY #1" we talk ball hog fashion, the SEC-ification of NYC, bodega alcohol laws, achilles injuries, and a possible Mexico City franchise
For subs only!
If the Celtics had any loyalty or morals as a organization they’d give Paul Pierce a front office position with immense decision-making powers
Not here to defend Adem Bona, but there's too much outcry about Sixers' backup center spot. The problem is the offense. Despite 2nd-best TO rate, Philly is 28th in o-rtg, 28th in eFG, 27th in halfcourt offense, 27th in FG at rim, and 25th in 3pt%. That's not Adem Bona
The Sixers may need to upgrade the backup center spot at some point. I'm just skeptical that Adem Bona is a legitimate culprit for why the team's offense completely falls apart whenever Embiid leaves the game (especially since Bona lineups scored fine last year)
On new @CookiesHoops E586 we talk Jayson Tatum's Hall of Fame resume, Ty Jerome and the reborn Grizzlies, Acuff's throwback chucking, a romanticized 2013 West Village, dead internet and more

⚡️ Mayor Zohran Mamdani's NYPD is poised to sign a three-year, $750,500 no-bid contract with Israeli surveillance firm Cognyte for FalcoNet, an AI-driven device that mimics a cell tower to track phones and can be mounted on police cars and drones or hidden in a backpack, the New York Daily News reported.
Cognyte won a tender to sell intercept spyware to Myanmar's state telecom weeks before the 2021 military coup, Reuters previously reported. Meta banned the firm the same year, saying its customers used fake accounts to target journalists and politicians in Kenya, Mexico and Indonesia.
The firm is part of an Israeli surveillance industry that grew big as a result of the military's monitoring of Palestinians, whose phone calls Israel's Unit 8200 has intercepted and stored by the millions, including to carry out genocide in Gaza and enforce a brutal illegal occupation in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
