Six years ago today, at 1:01 p.m., we lost Zeus. You remember the exact minute of a thing like that. The clock keeps ticking, and you wonder how the hell it has the nerve. This was his last walk. Looking at it now, I’d bargain with every crook in heaven for another trip down that sidewalk. He loved chasing balls. Throw one and he’d go airborne—four paws clear of the earth, utterly committed, leaving gravity to sort out its own problems. He was truly beautiful in flight. And we got to be there. We got to throw the ball. Six years gone, and we miss you every damn day, Zeus. Wherever you are, old friend, I hope somebody’s got a good throwing arm. ❤️🐾
