The #gaming industry loves global audiences. But millions of players means millions of ways to play. South Korea has PC bangs. Japan has a mix of mobile, console, and PC gaming. Devices, communities, and local habits all shape discovery and spending. nichegamer.com/why-regional-…

If your monetization strategy makes a player stop playing your game, it's probably not a very good monetization strategy. One approach I like is giving players a way to earn in-game currency by doing something they were already going to do anyway. That's a win-win situation.

The biggest problem with consumer VR isn't that VR sucks. It can just be a big investment that people aren't always ready to make. Out-of-home XR solves a bunch of that. You don't need to own the hardware or figure out the setup. You just show up and play. roadtovr.com/as-vr-gaming-lo…

We’re in Atlanta for QSR Evolution! Tesoro is sponsoring this year, and we’re talking with restaurant leaders about turning gaming engagement into real-world visits and purchases. If you’re here, come find us or send me a message. Would love to connect. qsrevolutionconference.com/

37% of developers surveyed see smaller teams as gaming's biggest opportunity. AI gives experienced teams more leverage, changing the economics of what gets built. Smaller budgets and faster iteration could make a much wider range of games viable. creativebloq.com/3d/video-ga…

Next week, we’re taking Tesoro to Atlanta as a sponsor of QSR Evolution. I’m looking forward to talking customer acquisition, loyalty, and how real-world purchases can connect brands, games, and players. If you’ll be there September 8-10, let’s meet up. qsrevolutionconference.com/

Memory prices are up more than 6x in a year. AI is making software development more efficient while making the infrastructure underneath it more expensive. That's a major shift in the economics of computing. Source: axios.com/2026/08/11/chips-m…

AMD's earnings show how connected AI and gaming have become. The same chips and memory power both markets. As AI demand grows, it reshapes the economics of gaming hardware too. That's a trend worth watching. Link: theverge.com/tech/975381/amd…

The Steam Machine story says a lot about where tech is today. Gaming hardware now competes with AI infrastructure for the same memory and compute. Sometimes the biggest force shaping your product comes from a completely different industry. pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/…

I don't think AI automatically makes you a better engineer. It can make you a lot more productive, but it can also send you down some reallllyyyyy unproductive rabbit holes. I'll just say that the difference between the two outcomes usually isn't the tool...

The article frames this as an industry under pressure. I see an industry rebuilding around engagement instead of transactions. That's a much more interesting shift. axios.com/2026/07/26/xbox-pl…

The more context AI has, the more useful it becomes. Imagine an AI that understands every project you've worked on, every decision you've made, and every lesson you've learned. That's where things start to get really interesting.

Roblox letting kids build games with AI on their phones is pretty wild. I think we're about to see a lot more people discover they enjoy making games because the first step got so much easier. businessinsider.com/roblox-k…

George Lucas called AI the future. I think AI is another abstraction layer. It makes building faster, which makes judgment even more valuable. The biggest advantage comes from knowing what to build rather than simply automating the process. pcgamer.com/software/ai/geor…

If I'd had AI when I started coding at eight, I probably would've built a lot more. I also would've had to learn when to trust it and when to question it. That's a skill every developer is building right now.

AI is becoming another layer of the engineering stack. Every major abstraction has expanded what developers can accomplish. AI is doing the same. That's the mindset we've adopted at Atlas Reality and Tesoro, and it's changing how we build software every day.

GTA VI will be a massive success. The bigger question is whether one blockbuster can change the economics of the industry. I think AI has the potential to give studios more leverage, and that's a much more interesting long-term story. businessinsider.com/video-ga…
