Dwarf wheat.
I’ve asked this before but is there any historical event that is like the Opposite of 9/11. Like something so good that happened that it changed the world forever

I know this is an unpopular opinion around here, but globally there has never been a better time to be alive than right now. That’s the result of hundreds, thousands of reverse-9/11 events.

Can anyone imagine what a museum curated by Tommy Robinson and Stephen Kerr would have in it? Old copies of Loaded Magazine, ash trays from McDonalds and Kappa trackies with poppers up the sides? As a foreigner I'm sure it'd not have me in it anyway
DEI officers at Glasgow Museum are removing 3000 years of Ancient Egyptian history because the mummies didn’t "give consent" 3000 years ago. Absolutely retarded.

Stupid, small things that matter. This disused phone box operated happily as an informal beach toy library on the Falmouth sea front for years until someone decided it had to be removed for “health and safety”. 1/2

It’s obviously a bald bloke looking over his shoulder, but if this leads to a national ban on Corporate Memphis then I’m all for it.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
That is an illustration of a balding man looking over his shoulder. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_eye urbandictionary.com/define.php?ter…

Best anecdote in Carol Thatcher's book about her father is when Sir Denis boarded a train at Paddington in which the only empty compartment was reserved for Rosewood Psychiatric Hospital. Denis travelled alone and in comfort as far as Reading when "all these chaps piled in", accompanied by a male nurse, who counted them before the train moved off. 'One, two, three, four ... who are you?" "I'm the Prime Minister's husband." "Six, seven, eight, nine..."

If there’s anyone on Earth who should be able to recognise obvious satire…
Sounds more like an apology for British comedy

The interesting thing is it’s perfectly fine to object to this on “dignity” grounds, but that’s not what the museum code of conduct talks about, and it’s hard to see the dividing line between mummies and other artefacts.
As the row over the display of Egyptian mummies rages on, perhaps the real absurdity is not that we’ve begun to question public display of the dead, but that we ever imagined their silence gave us the right to do what we pleased with them, Andrew Tickell writes ✍️

The EU fee was about £12.6bn a year, whereas the estimated Brexit loss of output is now roughly £170bn–£230bn a year, with an associated loss of tax revenue of roughly £65bn–£85bn a year. That makes the fee equivalent to only about 5–7% of the estimated annual GDP loss. #BrexSHIT

Did nobody stay at holiday homes before Airbnb? It was probably less common, but still happened a lot - we did Landmark Trust holidays as a kid, we’ve been staying on a Arran every year for decades, etc. Tidying up before you leave is completely normal in those places, but I guess if you’ve only stayed in hotels it seems a big ask.
After you stay at a hotel, do you strip the bed & wash the sheets? After you eat in a restaurant, do you wash the plates and cutlery? If you book an Airbnb property, you’re a customer, not a house guest This new policy is long overdue to get Airbnb hosts under control

It is an oft-noted effect that people seem to get more conservative as they age, but the corollary is that people who were very liberal try to fight against this as they age, and stay relevant by climbing onto new cultural bandwagons.

I know I do this, I worry that for various reasons my own Overton Window has shifted right - I think it probably hasn’t, but it’s something to think about.
