Well…trying this again. My last account got hacked and I couldn’t get X to give it back to me. This site hasn’t been the same the past few years but I’ve met a lot of great people over the long haul.
Always appreciate the opportunity to join @TND to discuss the latest in American politics.
A Fox News Voter Poll found that 58% of Michigan voters and 49% of Ohio voters said they expect life for the next generation of Americans to be worse than today.
Founding Director of Democracy and Public Policy Network at @bgsu and the BGSU Poll, @bgsu_prof, tells @DeeDeeNews this pessimism is 15 years in the making.
"There's been a lot of frustration and economic angst, and not a lot a patience among Midwest voters. They're looking for some change. They want some stability."

I wrote this a week ago. I think it proved true.

May you all have fellow election nerds who are willing to text interesting tweets/data points back and forth with you on nights like this!
Isn’t the story at this point either an historic rebuke of Trump OR an historic polling miss? Not sure anyone would settle for something in between.
Seeing Ohio political ads on the nationally televised broadcast while I’m in TN. I thought I could escape them!

President Trump is making campaign stops in states where Republicans are working to defend seats, including Ohio, a state he flipped in 2016 with significant support from blue-collar workers who shifted toward the GOP.
@bgsu_prof, a political science professor at @bgsu, tells @GeoffHarrisTV that Trump has made inroads in Ohio, historically a swing state, by taking his message and economic policies to working-class voters.

Commentary: With tight races, is Ohio suddenly a swing state again or is this a typical rebuke of a president’s party in a midterm election? The answer likely lies somewhere in between and has major consequences for the competitiveness of Ohio beyond 2026. ohiocapitaljournal.com/2026/…
We asked Ohio LVs who they trusted most on leadership attributes between Acton and Ramaswamy. She averaged about 6 points better across all attributes. She did especially well when it came to honesty, caring about ordinary people, & sharing their values.

I don’t care what political party you belong to or which candidate you support.
There are lines we shouldn’t cross, and this is one of them.
We can disagree on plenty of things without losing our sense of decency.
Ohio has historically had a strong populist streak and that’s evident in our polling. I wrote about it for Newsweek here.

The optimist in me had to find a silver lining in the dismal outlook so many people have toward today’s politics. This was a cathartic piece to write. #PollingGreen✊🏼

Grateful to be part of the growth at @bgsu! There really is something special on our campus and it stems from the vision and leadership of President Rogers.
Phenomenal piece on how @bgsu is leading America in the new world of reduced enrollment. So proud of Pres. Rodney Rogers. The exact kind of leader America needs in our civic institutions.
