Comp players never wanted two tunings, never wanted 20 playlist, never wanted escalation, never wanted to play a hyper bounce arena shooter. Outside of having esports they didn’t have the right person in place to make the multiplayer popular again for the previous few titles.

I’m seeing comments like Comp/Esports player feedback is why Gears Multi is in its current state over the years. If they didn’t ask for any feedback the games you played would have been worse. They also don’t or can’t implement all feedback. You pretty much get what we get.
