My beautiful and talented friend Bridget Avildsen is nominated for her short film Despite It All. Here's a still of us together in it.
Lou Rawls, Lionel Hampton, me & Michael Cuscuna during the recording of Lou's album Portrait of the Blues, 1990.
Just ran across this interview from two years ago, one of my better ones, thanks to my beautiful friend Tracy who let me blab on about the early days. If you get tired of me talking, just look at her for 30 minutes.

Happy Birthday to the late Don LaFontaine, the king of all of us voiceover people and all around good guy!
After nine hitless years, Dolly gave me my first number one hit. To top it off, she was a kind and generous friend who took the time to appear in our film, Harlem to Hollywood. Did I love her? Absolutely, just as you do.
