Outsourcing all your thinking to Trump and/or RFK Jr. is not the same thing as doing your own research. You're all too smart to fall for their lies to enrich themselves and their friends.

We are pleased to announce the 2026 Connecticut Sports Analytics Symposium (CSAS) Data Challenge. The sport is curling! Have secretly been wanting to do curling analytics for a while. statds.org/events/csas2026/c…🧵(1/n)

The reason there aren't many conservative university faculty is the same reason there aren't many progressive cops. This isn't rocket science.

People seem to have a really hard time believing me that the average NFL career is really ~5.5 years, not 3 years like the NFLPA falsely claims. But here's a simple thought exercise. Pick your fave team. Go look at their 2024 roster. What fraction were new to the NFL that year?

Is it closer to 1/6 (~9 players on the week 1 53-man roster) or 1/3 (~18 players, same list)? That tells you that the average career can't be as short as 3 years. The turnover just isn't that high. This is one of those stats you can see with your eyes. It's cool!

The correct answer is 5.5 years. SEE QT for more.

The answer is ~5.5 years. The NFLPA put out a wrong but commonly used statistic of around 3-3.5 years. They are rptg average EXPERIENCE of all current NFL players. But those players haven't finished their careers! Like noting average American is 38 when life expectancy is 77.

The literal first thing you learn in a philosophy of science class is that you never PROVE anything.
Replying to @NIHDirector_Jay
We’re working to remove ideological influence from science. NIH funding must be based on provable, testable hypotheses, not ideological narratives. Projects that don’t meet that bar are discontinued so we can focus on rigorous, impactful research. 🧵2/5

Nowhere in his anemic response does Jay address at all whether he cares that Trump is cutting biomedical research funding by 40%. Seems like a very simple question the guy in charge of U.S. biomedical research should be able and willing to tell us. Radical transparency and all.

A 6-pack of Bud Light 12-oz bottles at our local Walmart spiked to $9.12 this morning. Almost $10. For a sixer of Bud Light. Not joking! Check for yourselves!

They don't offer you a buyout when they think they can just fire you. "I'll give you $50 to leave this poker hand right now" is not a thing you say when you hold the nuts.
