What if stock market gains were measured in gold instead of dollars? As John Authers notes, “Denominate U.S. stocks in gold rather than dollars, and they’ve been in decline since the dot-com bubble burst 25 years ago. Stocks elsewhere have done even worse.” #stocks #gold #markets #investors #investing

I used to think any #bitcoin conference worth its salt needs a workshop area, now it must have kids area. We had kids build their own hwws, bitcoinswitches, and presenting projects! @BitcoinAtlantis has set a new bar for what constitutes a great conference 🔥🔥🔥

I've been using @PhoenixWallet for almost three months, paying salaries for 11 people on a weekly basis, every Monday, using only #Bitcoin & the #LightningNetwork I've been thoroughly impressed. I tried a few different self-custody lightning wallets and, of those I tried, Phoenix was the best. It's easy, fees are low, and it just works. Up until the ordinal craze, what I'd been doing was sending Bitcoin to a custodial lightning wallet every Monday. So I'd make one on-chain transaction followed by eleven salary-payments over lightning. But higher on-chain fees meant a 1:11 ratio was too high. And I'm not comfortable with leaving several weeks worth of salary payments in a custodial wallet. With Phoenix, I have no issue, as no one else controls the wallet's private keys. I've made only 2 on-chain funding transactions since March, and paying salaries have been super easy and super quick every week. Granted, I would've saved on fees if I had continued using the same custodial wallet as the coaches, to whose lightning-address-enabled-wallets I pay their salaries, but the fees are still negligible and a (more than) worthwhile price to pay for the peace of mind provided by self-custody. Also, I am actively learning about self-custody, running a lightning node, learning to manage channels, etc. But, for salaries, I can't afford to have something go wrong. I can't ask our staff to wait a day for payment, because I'm still learning how all of this works. Hence, an easy to use, self-custody lightning wallet was the right option. Three things that's missing though, which it'd be great if @Phoenix could add, is the following: - Export transaction history to CSV. I know this was recently announced for the iPhone app, so I'm assuming it'll soon be available for the Android version. - Conversion rates to South African Rand (ZAR) This is not a deal breaker. But our organizational salaries are contractually based on Rand values. I would still calculate salaries in sats anyway, because conversion rates between wallets have small discrepancies. But, for easy and quick reference, local fiat conversion rates would be great. - Multiple wallets? From a technical perspective, for a mobile self-custody lightning wallet, I don't know if this would be possible, but, for example, it'd be great if one could have separate wallets for paying salaries and other expenses. To avoid doing everything from a single wallet.
