The 🇺🇸 IRS just released the capital gains tax brackets for 2027
Single filers:
0%: up to $51,050 in taxable income
15%: $51,051 to $563,200
20%: over $563,200
Married filing jointly:
0%: up to $102,100
15%: $102,101 to $633,600
20%: over $633,600
The 0% bracket rose by $1,600 for single filers and $3,200 for married couples from 2026.
🇺🇸 THE IRS JUST RAISED THE 0% CAPITAL GAINS BRACKET FOR 2027
If your taxable income stays under these limits, you pay 0% federal tax on long-term gains, per CNBC:
Single: $51,050
Married: $102,100
"Long-term" means you held the investment for more than 1 year.
"Taxable income" is your income after deductions. The standard deduction for 2027:
Single: $16,600
Married: $33,200
So a married couple taking the standard deduction can make about $135,300 in total, gains included, and still pay 0% on those gains.

Long before the dreadlocks and the world tours, Bob was a Trenchtown kid singing harmony with Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer. As the Wailers they recorded for Coxsone Dodd's Studio One in Kingston, and their first hit, "Simmer Down," went to No. 1 in Jamaica in 1964. Suits and skinny ties were the uniform of the ska and rude boy scene.
In February 1966 Bob married Rita Anderson and spent part of that year working in Delaware before heading back to Jamaica. Within a decade, Catch a Fire, Burnin' and Natty Dread would carry reggae to the world.
🎸 Bob was still a teenager when the Wailers formed in Trenchtown in 1963. Did you know Bob started out as a ska singer? 🎸
