Once again I have been taken by ambulance to Bournemouth hospital following my recent surgery. A few minutes ago whilst laying on my back awaiting an ultrasound scan I could hear a few nurses singing In the Summertime, I said to myself oh no I have been recognised, but I have to admit that I began chuckling despite the discomfort. What a day!

I get the point about speed and convenience. But the act of taking a detailed history in communication with the patient rather than their e-record is by that very act part of building trust and understanding with a person in need. We risk becoming more detached from our patients

on a train from London to Bournemouth next seat is a lady with a dog. Dog is sat on directly on the seat .She then starts to groom the dog and keeps it quiet by feeding it meat which she puts directly on the seat. Dog then vomits all over the seat. Unacceptable or what?
