I design PCBs as my day job; it has been my entire career. I can't shut up about it, follow along if you want to PCB tips and random musings of a super PCB nerd.
I wonder when ordinary people like this guy will be eligible for Neuralink. It is still in early testing phases, but SO many people could benefit from what it offers to people who have lost the ability to interact with the world.
In January 1998, 26-year-old Icelandic electrician Felix Gretarsson climbed a utility pole to fix a power line when he accidentally grabbed a live wire and 11,000 volts passed through his body.
He spent three months in a coma. When he woke up, both of his arms were gone.
Crushed by his new reality, he spiraled into years of drinking and drug abuse that nearly killed him. The addiction destroyed his liver, and he needed two transplants to survive.
Everything changed in 2007 when Felix met French surgeon Jean-Michel Dubernard, the man who had performed the world's first successful hand transplant. Felix asked him one question: could the same be done for his arms?
The answer gave him hope. He moved to France and waited years for the right donor.
In January 2021, almost exactly 23 years after the accident, he became the first person in the world to receive a double-arm-and-shoulder transplant.
By 2022, Felix said he could brush his teeth, dress himself and drink from a glass.
His daughters had been four years old and three months old when he lost his arms. When he could finally hug them again, he was a grandfather.
Design PCB, everything works. Roll revision PCB, suddenly something is wrong. Troubleshooting skills on point for when you need to walk your steps back.
Generational ships are insane, and I kind of hope this can become a reality someday. People call these O'Neil cylinders, but I will always remember them as RAMA from the Arthur C. Clarke Series.
🚨: Engineers just proposed a 36 mile long spacecraft called 'Chrysalis' that could carry 2400 people to Alpha Centauri, just 4 light-years away from us, on one way trip. The journey will take 400 years!
The passengers who board it will never see Earth again. Neither will their children. Or their grandchildren.
That is a huge commit wiring mod, this looks like ram, all the lengths look mostly match here, shouldn't be that bad of an impedance mis-match.
I'm guessing the passenger of this cyber cab would be shitting his pants to see the car inching forward as an oncoming train approachs, like it wants to play chicken with the train.
Fully automated PCB manufacturing! Made in the USA baby!
PCBs made in America. Twice as fast as Shenzhen.
Today @CircuitHub is unveiling The Grid, our factory-scale robot in Massachusetts that builds circuit boards on demand.
No changeovers, no per-design setup. Prototypes and production batches, fully automated.
Tek Deck in space is based AF, look at those mad tricks! I don't know if I should be more jealous of the air or the giant roll of kapton.
Space skate! A tribute to the raddest skaters I know down on planet Earth. This one is for my brother (and all skating members of the posse), my husband and our little ripper daughter, and all the inspired shredders. Hey @tonyhawk, what trick would you try up here?
Took a corner a little too tight the other day, went up and over the curb. And now that tire has a slow leak. How to cook a brand new tire.
Star Fall is testing an orbital capsule delivery system for providing supply delivery to anywhere on the Earth through orbital re-entry.
AFRL conducted a test of preliminary Rocket Cargo capabilities via @SpaceX Bandwagon-5 on a Falcon 9 launching from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station @SLDelta45. This test involved a SpaceX Starfall capsule loaded with #AFRL agile cargo pods for point-to-point delivery missions.
We have built the international space station piece by piece over many years. We should dismantle it piece by piece in the same fashion and re-use what we can that is already in orbit for other missions. Deorbit what is not useful fine, but don't de-orbit the entire station plz
This guy has been promoting the Tesla Roadster since before he had grey hair. He want on Jay Leno's Garage to showcase the previous now dead Tesla Roadster that was designed many years ago. And to this day is still promoting the Tesla Roadster that replaced the one that died.
I need pictures of "rusted plastic" please share if you have
It is almost like you can see a rotational current of the fluid around a specific axis, reminds me of planetary formations.
When the investors and the banks stop dishing out cash to non-profitable startups, unicorns will start to vanish, in theory.
University lab builds bringing you the nightmares of tomorrow.
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks.
By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time.
Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.
