Russian Satellites Aid Iranian Proxies in Strikes on Saudi Arabia — AP ▪️ Last month, Iranian-backed armed groups carried out a precision strike, hitting pumping stations along a critical Saudi Arabian oil pipeline. A few days later, another strike targeted a Saudi military airbase, damaging an Italian-made fighter jet housed in a hangar. ▪️ Russian reconnaissance satellites—specifically the "Kosmos-2600"—played a crucial role in the success of these strikes, hovering over the key targets shortly before the attacks took place. ▪️ A private geospatial intelligence firm analyzed 40 missile and drone attacks against Saudi Arabia—carried out by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen and armed groups in Iraq between July 1 and October 19. In every instance, the firm identified a consistent pattern: Russian government and military satellites were orbiting over these areas in the days leading up to and following the attacks. ▪️ Three officials—including a Saudi representative and a senior member of the Houthi leadership—along with a private intelligence analyst, told the Associated Press that the Houthis and other Iranian allies have utilized intelligence provided by Russia, as well as capabilities from China. According to the AP, Iranian advisors on the ground analyzed intelligence and passed it on to their allies.
