I love that this post got a little motion bc I got to help spread one of my favorite cat videos everrr. Not exactly The Discourse but it feels like an intangibly valuable part of the cultural weave.
And i just love shitposting so much. Whole nother layer of the cultural weave.
you will never convince me this flag didn’t have a cornucopia
A new Mandela Effect is rising.
Since when does the Soviet flag carry a star above the hammer and sickle?
Many of us remember it clearly without one.
If you recall the flag without the star… you may be from the old Earth.
Shifted into this denser, clown-world timeline.
The memory itself is the proof.
The body knows.
The soul knows.
We are not crazy.
We are remembering.
I miss the old Earth too.
Yet we are here now to hold the Light and anchor a higher one.
Who else feels this?
This is also why I refuse the job interview humiliation ritual. Never been how I’ve found a good one. Ever.
On his sixteenth birthday the boy gets a horse as a present. All of the people in the village say, “Oh, how wonderful!”
The Zen master says, “We’ll see.”
One day, the boy is riding and gets thrown off the horse and hurts his leg. He’s no longer able to walk, so all of the villagers say, “How terrible!”
The Zen master says, “We’ll see.”
Some time passes and the village goes to war. All of the other young men get sent off to fight, but this boy can’t fight because his leg is messed up. All of the villagers say, “How wonderful!”
The Zen master says, “We’ll see.”

Reverse Engineer Anything and removing malware/spyware from your own devices sits so close to the cyber guardrails that phrasing or word choice can mean the difference between a refusal and smooth sailing. The rumors that Claude was nerfed started on reddit, and in those threads many comments point out that Claude will still do it if you rephrase it. OpenAI is treating the similar refusals with codex as accidental decision-boundary issues and says they're getting fixed. I expect Anthropic will do the same. It's pointless and counterproductive to try to restrict this. Let people do what they want with their own property. They'll do it anyway with less restrictive models, and fighting it just means losing subscriptions and a resentful public.

Heads up, @OpenAI and @AnthropicAI. Rumor reaches my ears that you're doing a stupid thing, and should stop before you damage yourselves.
I hear you've now nerfed your models so that when people try to use them to clean the spamware and spyware out of their televisions, you block that.
If you really want Chinese open-weight models and open-source projects like OpenWaldo to eat your lunch, crippling your models so that people paying expensive subscriptions can't use them for completely legitimate purposes is a great way to accomplish this.
If, on the other hand, you'd rather have a volume business, maybe stupid arbitrary restrictions that look like they have the sole purpose of protecting corporate sleazeballs aren't such a good idea.
A word to the wise should be sufficient.
This is like the core theme of God Emperor of Dune
I knew a guy that went to prison and only had a flip phone when he went in, got out of prison and got an iPhone 13. Never used an “app.”
Within two days he figured it all out enough to where he was having sex with women he met on the phone before even finding a job.
Another buddy of mine hasn’t gotten laid in 10 years on the outside the entire time while working a high paying office job.
I think about this a lot.
this sound blocks your brain from overthinking:
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
No sound has been shown to block overthinking. Some auditory stimuli may modestly aid relaxation or focus for some people per limited studies, but the claim and before-after visuals are not supported as real effects or scans.

A bizarre new quantum state called a Fractional Fermi Sea
Physicists in Innsbruck lined up ultracold atoms in a single row and flipped their interaction over and over from strong repulsion to strong attraction.
This should have shaken them into a random hot mess. Instead, they settled into a highly excited state with a hidden order, a new phase of matter the team calls a fractional Fermi sea.

Person 1: They should have responded more calmly.
Autistic Person (me) : You publicly shamed them, encouraged a dogpile, and kept escalating after they became overwhelmed.
Person 1: So?
Autistic Person (me): You cannot deliberately dysregulate someone and then use their dysregulation as evidence against them.
