This is historic! Dockworkers across 5 continents and 113 ports are striking today to demand an end to their workplaces being used to transport bombs. This is what our rulers fear most: workers coming together to liberate humanity from capitalism and imperialism.

STOP calling it "Indonesia's fires." Call it what it is: Palm oil companies torching one of Earth's largest carbon reservoirs to clear land for free. 2M hectares gone. And counting.

The Iran war has given BP its highest profits in 18 years. It has cost US households $2,000, and UK households Β£2,400. Fossil capitalism is based on a systematic transfer of wealth from workers to fossil capitalists. theguardian.com/business/202…

Imagine your country covered in toxic smoke for 3 months because a company wanted to save $195 per hectare. That's Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore right now. Reckless palm oil is not "cheap." The real price is lungs, lives and climate.

I'm 40 years old, and graduated from university in the summer of 2008. Throughout my entire adult life the prevailing narrative has been about cuts, "painful" years, and ever-increasing inequality. And mainstream politicians wonder why people are so angry.

Remember when the hyenas realised all the promises Scar made to them were lies, and he’d destroyed every semblance of normalcy and stability, so they turned around and ate him? Just pointing that out for absolutely no reason at all.

An Ohio farmer tears up talking about a data center being built next to her farm: β€œWe're gonna see nothing but destruction. And I'm really sad about it.” 71% of Americans oppose data centers, yet politicians are approving them anyway because our government doesn’t work for us. It works for the owners of capital and until the people truly grasp this nothing will change. You cannot solve a problem unless you can first identify what the problem is, and the problem is the owners of capital have two parties that serve their interests and the people have zero! Kentucky residents played a loud recording of the noise pollution from data centers to show its disruptive impact. Within seconds, county officials grew irritated and told them to β€œact like adults” and turn it off. The corrupt politicians who vote for and push these data centers onto our communities couldn’t handle the piercing sound for a few seconds, yet expect residents to live with it every day. Welcome to the USA, where politicians prioritize the bottom line of the corporations and billionaires that fund their campaigns over the needs of our people and communities.

The real horror of Halloween. Artificial cobweb: a bit of fake fun for you, but a very real and terrifying death for them. If you see your neighbours using it, it's possible they don't know the danger so please print out this simple leaflet and pop it through their door: tinyurl.com/HalloweenHedgeho… The fine, strong synthetic fibres of this lethal 'web' are difficult for animals to see at dusk and can quickly wrap around their legs, wings, and neck, trapping and killing birds, insects and mammals. When Eden the hedgehog struggled to free herself the web tightened, cutting off circulation and causing deep wounds. Can you imagine the pain and sheer terror? And then seeing dawn approach, while hanging there, tightly bound and helpless, only an inch above the ground but suffering slow strangulation. Aside from being stressed, dehydrated, starving and exhausted, she also had horrific bite/peck wounds to her face, where she had been held there, helpless, unable to curl and defend herself, while a predator tried to eat her alive. Tragically her constriction injuries were too severe to survive, and poor Eden had to be put to sleep. If you have used this deadly cruel trap to 'decorate' your garden, I beg you - take it down now. Please spread this vital information, and help save lives.

Oh wow. This is true. The new bosses at @bbc consider climate change to be woke. They’ve removed the climate heading on the news site. They want to downgrade reporting on the issue. The BBC is a disaster when it comes to understanding what’s happening to the planet. Why is right wing ideology allowed to destroy the bbc @lisanandy

Left: President Trump insults Norway calling it a sh*thouse country Right: Visit Norway, the tourism board, trolls President Trump, displaying some of their best toilets on their Instagram πŸ˜… My view: Trump chose to insult Norway. Visit Norway answered with humour, confidence and a showcase of its most beautiful loos. That’s how you turn an insult into an invitation. Congratulations to Norway for responding with such grace - and giving us another reason to visit. I've never been to Norway, but this is just another reason to visit 😁

In 1952, an English teacher named Cecil Dormand secretly paid for a dirt-poor 11-year-old to take a drama course. He never told him and the boy didn’t find out until decades later. By then, he was a knight, that little boy’s name was Patrick Stewart. He was born into a poor family in Mirfield, a small mill town in Yorkshire and his father came home from World War II a violent man, and he was violent toward Patrick’s mother. Young Patrick learned exactly when to step between his father’s fist and his mother. An English teacher put a copy of Shakespeare in his hand and told him to get up and perform. He never stopped and left school at 15. By 19 he was completely bald... most agencies told him he'd never make it because of that. In 1987, the LA Times called him an β€œunknown British Shakespearean actor” when he was cast as Captain Picard. Then he became one of the most famous faces on Earth. You’ve probably heard that part. Here’s the part you haven’t: He spent decades as a patron of Refuge, sheltering women and children from domestic violence. But he never stopped trying to understand his father. He dug up a 1940 newspaper clipping that said his dad had come home with severe shell shock. He went to France and walked the ground where his father’s unit was pinned down under bombing for hours. He learned his father had PTSD, and nobody ever helped him. So Patrick became an ambassador for Combat Stress, a charity that helps veterans. In 2013, a young woman at a Texas convention told him she was a survivor of domestic violence. He asked, β€œMy dear, are you okay?” Then he hopped off the stage, held her, and told her: β€œYou never have to go through that again, you’re safe now.” At Dragon Con, a Make-A-Wish girl dressed as Spock came to meet him. 2,000 people were waiting for him to speak... he sat down and talked with her for 15 minutes, making all of them wait. He told her that since they were friends now, whenever she saw him on screen she could wave and say, β€œHello Patrick.” After 9/11, he felt helpless, so he brought his one-man A Christmas Carol back to Broadway for a full week of charity shows. He played every character himself and donated every cent. In 2019 he did it again, and every dollar went to feeding hungry New Yorkers. In 2017, he fostered a pit bull named Ginger, who had been rescued from a dogfighting ring. She was his first dog in more than 50 years. He couldn’t bring her home to England, so he found her a family. Then he kept fostering more. When he said he was done with Star Trek so many people told him the show had gotten them through the hardest times of their lives. So he wanted to see if Picard could do it one more time. Rest in Peace, Sir Patrick πŸ––

Scotland just delivered one of the most powerful clean-energy statements in modern history. On multiple occasions, the country’s wind turbines generated around 200% of national electricity demand, producing far more power than Scotland itself needed. It can be done!!! No time to wait. #ActOnClimate #renewables

Everyone needs to know what actually happened in Serbia. Instead of students just protest against their government, the students organized themselves into a student list and ran in elections against their governmentβ€”and they have just won. Dear Serbia, congratulations on your victory; you have just opened a new door in protesting. This is history
