Since February 2026: Costco warehouses have been rolling out digital scanners at every entrance. You scan your membership card physical or digital and your photo pops up on a screen facing the employee. Instantly. The employee looks at the photo. Looks at your face. Match or mismatch.
No match? You don’t get in.
The days of borrowing your friend’s Costco card, flashing it at the greeter while walking fast, and hoping nobody notices are over.
Morgan Stanley analysts estimate this system could force 4 million non-members to buy their own memberships generating over $200 million in new membership revenue for Costco.

Republicans had a tough night last night. We lost great Senators in hard races. In Alaska and Mississippi, we continue to fight.
There are clear lessons to be learned from the results. First, we should listen to what voters unmistakably said last night. Their priorities must always come first. Our job is to forcefully act on them. Senate Republicans have an opportunity and obligation to show our voters that we are fighting for them.
In the Senate, we will aggressively oppose terrible ideas that drive our country toward the socialism Democrats embraced. Our commitment is to common sense. And our focus should not waiver from the top priority of driving down prices that have remained stubbornly too high.
I’m here for the fight. I know my colleagues are too.
