A small animal rescue in Chicago’s northwest suburbs needs help finding forever homes for more than a handful of dogs after the discovery of a hoarding situation in southwest suburban Lemont.

Tonight is my biannual opportunity to think about the fact that it was once possible to dial a phone number to get the correct time when you changed the clocks: "At the tone, the time will be 10:02 and twenty seconds... BEEP" 1/2
Honestly did not expect to learn a thing or two about the tallboy from .@TheAtlantic (which a friend recently described in a dissing tone as "highbrow")... happy Saturday, & go find yourself a tallboy! theatlantic.com/culture/2026…
My endless thanks to .@mcrchicago for bringing this to my attention — you're the best! chicago.eater.com/maps/debat…
Does anyone know: Will any of Chicago’s distinguished tavern licensed locations be showing election coverage on Tuesday night? It will be, after all, the ultimate sporting event…
Terrific panel tonight — this is one to watch!

l’ve had no orders for my nature jewellery collection. I know they’re expensive but the materials for each cost £70 or more & I can’t charge nothing for several hours’ making time on each piece. They used to sell out.
I make intricate casts of real flowers incl. snowdrop, lily of the valley & wild carrot, nature finds such as dragonfly wings & feathers & tiny 3d wearable sculptures of much-love birds. I’m taking pre-orders for🎄. A RT would really really help my small business rn, thankyou x: etsy.com/uk/shop/silverpebbl…

If the world is getting a little too much may I recommend the inexplicably obsolete word ‘latibulating’, from the 17th century? To latibulate is to find a cosy corner somewhere and hide in it.

This is an incredible episode of television. One of the best ever. But my favorite Picard moment is his White Whale monologue from First Contact. The intensity of that moment -- wow. I remember seeing it on opening night, and I've never forgotten it.

SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

The World Champion Brewers are no fluke
On this we will stand no rebuke
They earned their rings
With basics, not dings
In the end, though, they won it for Ueck.
The small-ball Milwaukee Brewers, playing in the smallest market in the majors, are World Series champions for the first time after beating the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in Game 5. apnews.com/article/brewers-r…
