Today is also All Souls Day and it makes me think of a time when we had wx closing in on us while my husband (who also got his license young) was flying our family off FL in our 4 seater, and ATC matter of factly asking "how many souls" we had onboard.
As the wife of an ATC and pilot I had understood the request but can't stop thinking of the 9 souls on that plane now. Hearing how panic set in and how the ATC will always remember that last call. – at United States
