A Venn diagram of the very online right who called Vivek "based" when he was a MAGA proxy in 2023-4 and of the very online right who call him "Jeet" now.
Throw in a third circle: Vance supporters who claim it's a psyop to blame the midterm loss on anything but Iran.

This was also my reaction to this post. From a former enthusiastic supporter, I’m done with Vance after reading this.
I decided to sleep on JD Vance’s post from yesterday before commenting on it substantively. I have done so, and given it substantial thought.
My verdict? Here is what I believe that post actually was saying:
“Yeah we lost the election big time. But it’s not my fault, it’s the fault of the guy who made me who I am, and to whom I owe my entire political career. If only everybody had listened to me everything would have been OK. Oh yeah, I’m specifically throwing my boss under the bus, but I am also impliedly throwing Rubio and Hegseth under the bus too because I want to be President. No, I’m not going to talk about the way my lunatic belief that the Iranian mullahs could be reasoned with is really what brought us to this point. I’m also not going to talk about how my hatred of Israel and alliance with fellow Israel-haters and groyper-adjacent loons like Tucker chases away far more voters than it attracts. In other words, I’m not taking responsibility for anything and blaming everybody else. And I’m dropping this literally hours after the election is over so I can set the narrative now before anybody else has a chance to talk that says I’m the good guy, that MAGA is dead, and that I’m the leader of what comes next. No, I did not coordinate this with Trump, I just told him I’m going to do it. And he will say it’s OK because if he does not he’ll get savaged with reports that he has lost control of the Presidency, which was kind of what I wanted. It’s DC. Loyalty does not matter. Vote for me for President.”
Does loyalty matter? I believe it does, because if someone is disloyal to the man who made them, they will also be disloyal to the voters who put them into office.
My 2c.
(And yes, if Vance is the nominee I’ll still vote for him over communist jihadists, but now is the time to debate these kinds of issues inside our own movement.)
Whatever my politics are, it’s this.

Not that the NY GOP isn’t asscheeks, but the fact she demanded a coronation shouldn’t be ignored.

.@JKetcham91 and I sift through the wreckage of the NYGOP, which has "conspicuously avoided any serious introspective or after-action analysis following recent election defeats."

Great read.
Kathy Hochul had a big victory in New York. The last time a Democrat won by 20 points was Cuomo in 2018.
But there is a big difference between the two years.
Hochul saw double digit declines from minorities in New York City since 2018.

Well this final GoFundMe update from The Red Baron Worker has assured me that we could not have supported a better man.
Does the NXT crowd get together and rehearse beforehand?
Because the fact that they had a chant ready to go in the perfect cadence of "Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nothin' to F With" was impressive.
“946... Ain't nobody safe!”
“946... Ain't nobody safe!”
“946... Ain't nobody safe!”
THE NXT CROWD NEVER MISSES WITH THESE CATCHY CHANTS 🔥

Is voting for Democrats misplaced and self-destructive? Yes. Namely because they aren't going to fix current problems and they will create others we don't have yet.
But the reason young white men voted for Dems is because Trump, for the last year, has been telling them their cost of living problems are make believe.
Lane knows ball.
What happened last night is not complicated.
Whether you look at the results in Texas, Kansas, Iowa, North Carolina, or even Florida, the story is the same. This was a vote against the GOP and the GOP is Donald Trump right now. He was on the ballot and Americans voted overwhelmingly against him or simply sat home and didn't vote at all.
A not insignificant share of Dem voters this cycle were 2024 Trump voters as evidenced by the massive shifts towards the Left among every single demographic.
Dems turned out like a presidential cycle. Republicans did not. That's where the margins were. Everywhere.
But why? It's not because of an influx of immigrants, or Californians moving to red states, although there are massive implications coming regarding both because of last night's result, it's because as American's material conditions failed to improve, Trump became increasingly disconnected and dismissive of normal American's concerns.
Take these very real quotes from Trump over the last year.
"I don't want to drive housing prices down. I want to drive housing prices up for people that own their homes"
"I love the inflation. The numbers were great. You know what I really love? I love the inflation"
"They have a new word. They always have a hoax. The new word is 'affordability..."
This was straight out of the Democrat playbook, tell Americans their concerns are completely fabricated. It doesn't work.
I was hopeful the Iran war would be quick and achieve its objectives in the way the Venezuela operation did. That clearly didn't happen and as a result Americans started paying the price at home. Instead of addressing those concerns, he doubled down on a bunch of insane shit that nobody cares about.
The ballroom. Changing names of lakes. Making a huge deal about "super-intelligence". Stuff that literally has no impact on anyone's lives.
In the final days of midterm campaigning he went to Kansas and shit on football and then said he might move to Israel to be the prime minister because he's so popular there. Brilliant strategy.
Dems didn't run this midterm cycle on woke Democrat policies. They ran on populist messaging. More money in your pockets, more access to healthcare, less corruption in government, no foreign money. Now, we know these are empty promises that their policies are destined to fail on, but at least they understood the messaging they needed to do.
The Trump White House circus could be laughed off as good humor when Trump's actual policies were bringing material benefit to Americans' lives. I love a good meme as much as the next person, but when Americans' pocketbooks are suffering it looks like distraction to conservatives and cruelty to moderates.
This isn't to say Trump 2.0 has been an abject failure. His wins on immigration have been nothing short of revolutionary, especially what he's done at the Southern border. It's fantastic and saved the country from the brink. However, the lack of discipline and focus he's displayed recently, especially his handling of the Iran war and its economic fallout, put all of those gains into jeopardy and there's a massive likelihood they will be reversed. See Texas and what Hinojosa has said regarding immigration.
So while demographic change isn't what caused the flip from 2024 to 2026, the 2026 results are the first step into making sure demographics basically make national elections un-winnable for Republicans in the future. And the worst part is none of it had to be this way if only there was less hubris from Trump. He demanded he be the party, he was granted that demand and now that it's failing he refuses to take any accountability.
It's time to move forward but this doesn't mean abandoning the causes Trump pushed for.
Last night, conservative ballot measures passed all over the country in places that elected Democrats, including property tax caps, men in women's sports rules, and voter ID. And strong Republican candidates were able to win as well. Brandon Gill won by double digits in a district Talarico also won by double digits.
This wasn't a refutation of strong America first policies. It was a refutation of what many people simply view as the new swamp.
