When you have the chance to burn a timeout against no running clock to attempt a 59-yard FG to go down 4 with 6 mins left, you just have to take it
At least OM did not use all of its 1H timeouts in useless fashion so it can get a quick stop and try to score again

Such a tremendous point. The BCS would really make this all make sense, given it’s all about perfection
Simmons is a good kid who is wildly talented, and handled a really tough situation as well as possible last year. Evident in this clip below and beyond it
#Mizzou QB Austin Simmons meeting up with Ole Miss HC Pete Goulding & some of his former teammates postgame ⬇
Tough loss for the Tigers, today.
Billy Puckett has played on the road at MRA and at JA. Today will be a pretty tame environment by comparison. He will win
NEW: Mississippi State QB Kamario Taylor is expected to miss Saturday's game against LSU, @PeteNakos and @Clowfb report.
Parker “Billy” Puckett is in line to start.

I guess. I just don’t think the top 1/5 of college football teams being allowed to compete for a title — like every other level of football and every other American sport — is the affront to the sport like people make it seem
Replying to @bsrippee
Definitely the latter! And yeah, a few merely “good” teams getting rewarded with a roadtrip to Bama, etc is small price to pay for not having 12 guys in a room deciphering whether 10-2 vs 50th SOS is better than 9-3 vs 5th SOS, etc

It’s December 2004.
USC is undefeated. 12-0. Pete Carroll. Matt Leinart. Ranked #1.
Oklahoma is undefeated. 12-0. Bob Stoops. Jason White. Ranked #2.
Auburn is undefeated. 12-0. Ranked #3.
USC and Oklahoma play for the national championship.
USC wins 55-19. A 36-POINT BLOWOUT.
Auburn, Texas, Cal, Utah, Louisville are left wondering if they could’ve done better.

a) Season over. The computers picked the right two.
b) Let the other contenders prove it on the field.
I think 24 is too many. Sixteen is probably the right number. But it’s not a huge deal either way. College football is the only level of football on earth that doesn’t have a playoff that makes coherent sense .
Yet we are led to believe that’s somehow what makes it great, and the arguments in favor of that being what makes it great essentially amount to nostalgia cravings devoid of logic.
Computers, polls, argumentative media members and the most limited access to the postseason possible is somehow awesome, and every other level of football has it wrong
Very silly. 24 team playoff will be cool.
"Expanding the playoffs to 24 teams means that now 17% of college football teams will make the playoffs. In the NFL it's 44% and yet it's never killed our interest in the regular season."
@colincowherd doesn't buy that a 24-team playoff will kill college football
Aside from this being two different issues that aren’t correlated at all, it’s pretty astounding that no one who covers or is involved with LSU has ever once considered the completely unserious way in which the school is being run (by a politician) and thought or said “oh, maybe LSU is the problem. Maybe everyone else isn’t crazy and does not have it out for them”
Just wild.
I thought I had retired this bit due to parody becoming indecipherable with reality, but one more time by popular demand
