not all art is required to be "realistic"--some art is mostly conceptual, cerebral. Magritte's work, for instance, is almost as fairly represented in large photo books as on the wall; but Hopper, absolutely not. no photo has ever done justice to a Hopper painting.
Replying to @JoyceCarolOates
Yes I think it may be a combination of both - he’s a master of mood - his paintings are quite eerie & always seem to evoke a sense of menace - large windows & doors leading into the unknown are common images

The latest Huberman Lab episode is with legendary producer and author of the book “The Creative Act: A Way of Being,” @RickRubin. The episode focuses on the practical aspects of creativity, including questions and answers from the audience of Rick’s previous Huberman Lab appearance. It’s a conversation that I believe everyone — musician, artist, scientist, teacher, parent, etc. can benefit from because it’s less focused on a particular craft than it is on the mindsets and daily routines that direct our minds toward our greatest levels of unique creativity and personal expression. Listen or watch the full episode with Rick: go.hubermanlab.com/rick-rubi…

I've always suspected that an advanced alien civilisation with the technology to travel at close to light speed across interstellar distances would arrive in Earth orbit unobserved and proceed to dispatch a fleet of small, easily detectable balloons into our atmosphere.

On November 12, 1833, there was a meteor shower so intense that it was possible to see up to 100,000 meteors crossing the sky every hour. At the time, many thought it was the end of the world, so much so that it inspired this woodcut by Adolf Vollmy.
