In his opening remarks, Amb. Mousa @Meigague , Director of IGAD’s Health and Social Development Division, emphasized the importance of translating regional commitments into actionable national priorities, noting that preparedness requires strong systems for early detection, timely response and coordinated action across borders. The consultations focus on translating approved activities into a costed national workplan, prioritizing disease surveillance, laboratory systems, health workforce capacity and cross-border coordination, guided by the One Health approach. Supported by the @Pandemic_Fund, the initiative seeks to strengthen national capacities while advancing regional health security and resilience.

Participants from Ethiopia, Kenya, Burundi, DR Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Zambia and São Tomé & Príncipe combined theory and examinations with practical mock audits at Kenya’s Kabete Veterinary Laboratory. 📢Day 2 of the National Workshop with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institutions in Djibouti The engagement aims at strengthening partnerships and addressing skills gaps, developing a partnership framework and establishing coordination mechanisms among stakeholders Participants are focusing on improving coordination among stakeholders, aligning training programmes with labour market needs, and promoting public-private partnerships. The overall objective is to develop a joint roadmap for inclusive skills development. Discussions are expected to result in operational recommendations and a joint action plan aimed at strengthening the effectiveness of TVET systems in Djibouti and across the IGAD region. #IGADEducation
