The stockpiling warning has really frightened people - which shows how in denial people are. I’ve said for years that the psychological shock of facing the fact David Attenborough and scientists etc were right and they warned us and we ignored them, is going to be psychologically devastating.

Obsession with “tidy” farming is a threat to wildlife - yet many farmers see “tidiness” as a core virtue and disparage others who leave their hedges/margins/fields etc look “unkempt”. We need to change our thinking.
Go for a walk on almost any farm in Britain and ask yourself where a hedgehog might find food, water or shelter there. The rough edges, pockets of scrub, areas of unkempt long grass, piles of dead wood, marshy wet areas and ponds, all tidied away. There’s nowhere left for them.

Watched Digger - a wild & visionary satire about the fossil fuel industry and politics. Great dialogues, often laughing-out-loud funny and disturbingly true. Not popular in the US but may well become a classic. Tom Cruise deserves an Oscar for his portrayal of oil boss Digger.

If only there were some form of technology that we could use instead of relying on oil! theguardian.com/environment/…
The world is going to suffer for many more months through a massive energy crisis. The oil price is back up to $110 USD, which is basically the same as it was at the peak of the US war against Iran in April and May. This is going to have very negative consequences for the global economy. Inflation has already been rising in most countries, and will likely further increase. The US war against Iran unleashed what the International Energy Agency called the biggest oil supply disruption crisis in history. Now, Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries and depots are only making this worse. Moreover, the US-backed Saudi war against Yemen has led Ansarallah to retaliate by hitting Saudi oil infrastructure, further exacerbating the energy crisis. There are no signs of this getting better any time soon. Buckle up.

Two years ago today, we exposed huge amounts of illegal sewage dumping in Windermere. And still, the Environment Agency has done nothing about it. @WindrushWasp
🚨 Breaking News 🚨 Save Windermere has once again been involved in exposing United Utilities exploitation of Windermere. Today the BBC reported that in the last 3 years, United Utilities has ILLEGALLY dumped 143,000,000 litres of untreated sewage directly into Windermere from just one of their sites — that’s thethe equivalent of 23 million toilet flushes, 1,600 double-decker buses, or enough to fill Big Ben 30 times! 💩 According to the BBC, United Utilities claims they reported these incidents at Glebe Road Pumping Station as soon as they were aware, which suggests they simply didn’t know about the instances of illegality from 2021 to September 2023, despite it being their statutory obligation to show permit compliance. The BBC estimates an additional 24 incidents that weren’t reported at the time could have cost the company £2.5 million through lower rewards or greater penalties. You might be thinking, where’s the Environment Agency? Isn’t this their job? Well, once again, they’ve turned a blind eye. They’ve failed to ask for the data, failed to hold United Utilities accountable and failed to protect Windermere from this predatory behaviour. We need your help to stop this 🫵 👊 Tag @Keir_Starmer

Now it’s time for him to put his money where his mouth is and end sewage pollution in Windermere once and for all. Windermere is a symbol of our cultural heritage, a key driver of the local and national economy, and a sanctuary for rare and protected wildlife. This is a national and international disgrace, one of the country’s greatest natural treasures is being exploited by the multi-billion pound private water company. It’s time for Westminster to act. @Keir_Starmer , it’s time to stop the sewage to Save Windermere. Grrrrr
Thames Water is due to run out of money (again) over the next few weeks. A year and a half ago it was given a £3 billion bailout now it's asking for another £2.4 billion. We really are being taken for mugs. theguardian.com/business/202…
