Who doesn't love a good "what if" scenario in retirement planning? π

New Feature Dropped!
I'm pretty happy with this. First major "Pro" feature for FIREproof.
Create any asset, using a mean/volatility/shape, and add it to your portfolio. "Shapes" for now include: Equities, Bonds, Bitcoin.

Implemented my first ever GitHub actions build/deploy pipeline for both test and prod environments. Docker build/push on a Python/Django/SvelteJS project, then SSH/pull/run.
It was pretty rad when it all clicked.
It's going to help out a lot on my side project.

I wanted to announce that my latest project, the result of 12 years of FIRE community outreach and development, is now live in beta!
From the creator of cFIREsim, meet FIREproof.

Stripe account validated my business and is hooked up to my site. Things are feeling more real... ππ
Finally getting some summary stat tables up so that I can better visualize the ridiculous amount of data and start to ask myself questions like "What hellish 30-year retirement period caused one simulation to pay $1.2M in income taxes"?
Probably some big RMDs. Woof.
cFIREsim's successor (WIP, not released), a financial/retirement planner that simulates outcomes.
I have it handling account types, taxes, the concept of people attached to those things, etc.
UI is tough for me, and I'm consolidating outputs, but it's coming along.
It's expected that the GOP will knock down federal gay marriage laws and kick it back to the states.
I don't know what that means for my marriage. Got married in a state with gay marriage laws, as a presumably cishet couple.
Now live in a state w/o laws as a same-sex couple.
Nothing makes your hobbies disappear and your time fly by faster than when you over-schedule your children's activities for a season.
Where did the months go, and will I have time to breath soon?! π
I haven't posted in a long while, but a year's worth of development (with stops and starts because of life) is finally starting to look promising.
The next iteration of cFIREsim (new name pending) is now running tax calculations and outputting data to the front-end. I'm stoked.
These are very basic UI placeholders to show that I can push data about the chart, portfolios year-by-year, taxes accrued/paid, rebalance actions on an account-by-account level etc.
Time to start making it pretty (and usable). π
The woman at the table across from me at Starbucks is pontificating about the JIRA process of moving and closing tickets, and the condescension is thiccccck.
She must be a project manager.
Out at happy hour talking to a guy who just got a new Eng. Manager gig.
Coworker: So, is everyone normal at your new gig? Like no one is a troublemaker?
Guy: Depends on your definition of normal. Software Engineer normal? Sure.
