It was during Covid. His dad had just died days before in an absolute tragedy in Brazil but he couldn’t travel back for the funeral because of lockdown. Liverpool were in danger of missing out on Champions League qualification. They NEEDED to win against West Brom to be in with a chance. It was 1-1 in the 95th minute. We had one final corner. Up stepped Alisson Becker.

🚨 Jordan Henderson on being booed by Liverpool fans at Anfield: šŸŽ™ļø Interviewer: ā€œJordan, you received boos from sections of the Anfield crowd while returning as a Chelsea player. After everything you gave Liverpool, how did that feel? Jordan Henderson: ā€œI won’t pretend it didn’t hurt. Anfield was my home for years. I wore that shirt with pride, lifted trophies with this club and gave everything I had, even on the days when my performances weren’t perfectā€ ā€œI know football moves on. I know supporters have every right to be disappointed when a former player comes back wearing the shirt of a rival. I’m not asking anyone to cheer for Chelsea, and I’m certainly not asking Liverpool fans to forget who I was playing against tonightā€ ā€œBut there’s a difference between supporting your club and forgetting what someone once gave it. I wasn’t just passing through Liverpool. I was part of that dressing room, part of those battles, part of the journey that brought unforgettable nights to Anfieldā€ ā€œI stood with this club through pressure, criticism and difficult moments. I celebrated with the supporters when we won the biggest trophies. I gave years of my career to Liverpool, and I never thought I’d return to this stadium and feel like those memories meant nothing to some peopleā€ ā€œYou don’t have to love me because I play for Chelsea now. But don’t rewrite my entire Liverpool career because of the shirt I’m wearing today.ā€ ā€œThat is what hurts. Not the noise, not the criticism, not even the rivalry. It’s the feeling that years of loyalty can be forgotten in ninety minutes. I’ll always respect Liverpool, but I won’t lie and say tonight didn’t break a little piece of my heart.ā€

🚨 šŸŽ™ļø Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Ryan Gravenberch RED CARD šŸ—£ļø Chris Kavanagh should be stopped from officiating match . He literally killed the game. That was never a card offense. That wasn't necessary but he picked the side he wanted to win Premier League officiating has been horrendous and full of controversies.ā€ #LIVMCI
🚨 Jamie Carragher on Ryan Gravenberch RED CARD after he brought down Jeremy Doku šŸ—£ļø Chris Kavanagh should be ashamed of himself. That wasn't necessary but he picked the side he wanted to win with that one. It's a shame that every season he will have a game full of controversies. Iraola on the other hand should have known what to do as a coach Conceding two goals in three minutes from Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku in three minutes is ridiculous. I expected him to make a little adjustment and probably try earn a point at the Anfield. I'm quite disappointed with the way the game has turned with a blink of an eye. #LIVMCI

šŸšØšŸ—£ Thierry Henry on Gravenberch red card against Manchester city: "Sometimes you will think these referees are been paid because how was that a yellow card in the first place? City won but it wasn't a fair call by the referee" "I would have been really mad with the, referee if that was me,that was too harsh"

🚨Paul Scholes on Ryan Gravenberch's red card against Manchester City: ā€œI'm sorry, but that is never a red card. Never. I've watched the incident, and I honestly don't understand how the referee can make that decision. From what I've seen, there's no contact on Doku that justifies sending Gravenberch off. These are the moments we look back on when we talk about how Manchester City have been winning Premier League titles. You cannot tell me decisions like this won't raise questions, especially when the title race is so tight and every single point matters. I was sitting there with Rio Ferdinand when it happened, and we both knew immediately that this decision was going to cause a massive debate. You could see the frustration because, as a former player, you understand what a decision like that does to a team. Liverpool are trying to compete, they're fighting for every point, and then suddenly they're left dealing with a decision that could completely change the game. How are the players supposed to react? What are the fans supposed to think? ā€œYou don't need to score a goal to change a title race. Sometimes, one refereeing decision is enough to change everything.ā€ And that's why the Premier League needs consistency. If it's a red card, explain why. If there's clear evidence of serious foul play, show it. But when an incident like this produces such a controversial decision, people are naturally going to question what's happening. I'm not saying one decision explains every title Manchester City have won. That would be unfair. But when you see incidents like this, you understand why supporters become suspicious and why these controversies never disappear. ā€œThe biggest problem isn't just the red card. It's that decisions like this can leave an entire fanbase wondering whether the competition is being played on a level playing field.ā€

Manchester City supporters have been able to sneak their inflatable bananas into the away end at Anfield this afternoon. It has been a trend at City since the 1987-88 season when they had been relegated to the second tier. They had a striker called Imre Varadi, who was called Imre Banana by one fan. That led another fan to bring an inflatable banana with him to the next game and it was a trend that stuck throughout the rest of the 80s and the 90s. The travelling City fans are clearly trying to have a bit of fun in the face of discussion about a potential relegation back to the second tier, or lower. šŸ”— nyti.ms/4rXKrur

🚨Gary Neville on Ryan Gravenberch receiving a second yellow card after fouling JĆ©rĆ©my Doku, in a conversation with Roy Keane: šŸ—£ļø Gary Neville: ā€œI have to say, I’m really not comfortable with that decision. I looked at Roy Keane beside me and said, ā€˜Roy, are we seriously sending a player off in a game like this for that?’ Roy looked at the replay and said, ā€˜Gary, he’s already on a yellow. You have to be careful when you’re in that position.’ And I said, ā€˜I understand that, Roy, but look at the incident again! Doku is quick, Gravenberch gets across him, there’s contact, and suddenly Liverpool are down to ten men. Is that really what we want deciding a game of this magnitude?’ Roy replied, ā€˜The referee has to judge the foul, not the occasion. If you’re on a yellow, you can’t give the referee another decision to make.’ Fair point. But I still think the referee has to use some common sense. Not every foul from a player on a yellow card automatically deserves another booking. You have to look at the nature of the challenge, the intensity and whether it genuinely warrants a second yellow. I turned to Roy again and said, ā€˜The problem is that Liverpool are now facing a completely different game. Their midfield has to change, their shape has to change, and everything they planned before kick-off has gone out of the window.’ Roy shook his head and said, ā€˜That’s why you don’t put yourself in that position. At this level, you have to be smarter.’ And I can’t disagree with him on that. Gravenberch has to be more careful when he’s already been booked. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t question the referee’s decision as well. Two things can be true: Gravenberch should have been more disciplined, and the referee’s decision can still be debated. What frustrates me is that we’re talking about a second yellow card instead of the football. Liverpool are at Anfield, the crowd is electric, and one decision has suddenly put them in a position where they have to chase the game with ten men. I asked Roy, ā€˜If that were one of our teams in a title race, would you be happy with that decision?’ He replied, ā€˜I’d be furious if my player got himself sent off. But I’d also want to know whether the referee got it right.’ And that’s exactly where I stand. The referee has the authority to make that call, but authority doesn’t make every decision correct. Gravenberch has to take responsibility for the foul, and the officials have to take responsibility for the consequences of sending him off.ā€

🚨Roy Keane on Ryan Gravenberch’s red card against Manchester City: šŸ—£ļø Roy Keane: ā€œI’m sorry, but that is never a red card for me. Absolutely ridiculous. We’re playing football here, not a game where every bit of contact means somebody has to be sent off. I have watched the incident several times, and I still cannot understand how the referee thinks that deserves a red. It’s far too soft. You can talk about the letter of the law all you want, but surely we have to use common sense as well? It’s Manchester City against Liverpool at Anfield, a massive game, and suddenly we’re making decisions that can change the entire match. Gravenberch gets sent off, Liverpool are left fighting an uphill battle, and we’re all supposed to pretend the referee got everything right? Utter bollocks! And what frustrates me is that these decisions always seem to create more questions than answers. Manchester City are already facing serious scrutiny over their financial case, which they are appealing, and now you have another controversial decision going their way. I’m not saying this incident proves anything about those charges, but you can understand why Liverpool supporters are furious and why they feel the game is slipping away from them. Liverpool are playing at home, in front of their own supporters, and now they’re left feeling robbed by a decision that, in my opinion, was nowhere near clear enough to justify a red card. The referee has to understand the magnitude of these decisions. You’re not just sending one player off; you’re changing the balance of a huge game. If you’re going to do that, you need to be absolutely certain. For me, this was too soft, too harsh and completely unnecessary. Let the players compete. Let the game breathe. Liverpool fans have every right to feel cheated tonight, because when a decision this questionable changes a match of this magnitude, the referee has some serious explaining to do.ā€

🚨 Jürgen Klopp explains why he wore his Liverpool cap during Germany vs Greece: šŸŽ™ļø ā€œPeople keep asking me about the cap, and I understand why. But honestly, I don’t see football as a place where you erase everything that came before. I am Germany’s coach now, I am proud of that, but Liverpool will always be a huge part of my life.ā€ ā€œI spent nine years there. Nine years of incredible nights, heartbreak, trophies, laughter, tears and moments I will carry with me forever. You don’t simply remove that from your heart because you start a new job. Liverpool gave me memories I could never replace.ā€ ā€œAnd yes, I’m wearing Germany colours now. I’m here to bring joy back to German football, and that’s exactly what I want to do. But if Liverpool supporters see me wearing something from my old club and smile, then good. Maybe they remember the good times too.ā€ ā€œI’m Germany’s coach, and I give everything for Germany. But I will never pretend Liverpool meant nothing to me. You can change the job. You can change the dressing room. But you cannot change the people and memories that became family.ā€
