This week me and my lab partner have been working hard to build a bridge that can carry a 700kg weight before failing. Although we haven't tested it yet (that happens next term) we're feeling good about our chances and have the lightest structure in the group so far!

Things have got busier recently but here are some highlights of the past week or so:
- Bill Baker, the lead structural engineer on the Burj Khalifa, gave a short lecture on tall buildings
- The thermofluids lecture course (the lecturer was so good !!) (1/2)

A new term has brought me a new approach to work and now 2 weeks into Lent term, I'm feeling quite confident about it.
This is allowing me to really appreciate being in such a beautiful town and spend more time on my hobbies and with my friends! #CambTweet
With the first day of term today and the weekend growing near, my first gig of the new year approaches, a night of video game music from a 22 piece jazz band, so I'm really excited to play bass for this one! #cambtweet
After a crazy week I've got home so it's time for a Bridgemas debrief! Had a lovely few days, a Bridgemas formal, carol services from the lovely Selwyn Chapel choir, and the long awaited Snowball. I started the evening playing bass for Selwyn Jazz in the Chapel (1/3)
and could then enjoy the rest of the evening as a guest! Hot Content were definitely the highlight of the night, a brilliant Cambridge funk band and one I'll be trying my best to see again! Me and my friends stayed up all night chatting afterwards until our parents arrived, (2/3)
Happy belated bridgemas! I spent mine writing my first lab report and then had a wine and cheese evening with some friends in our kitchen with some terrible carol singing!

Had some family friends visit from America this weekend so took them to the Fitz gallery, evensong at kings and a hearty Selwyn brunch - lovely weekend!

Our guest lecture today was from Bob Goss, a retired engineer at Loctite, talking to us about adhesives and their applications. Naturally he superglued his fingers together for the demonstration.

Took a break from work yesterday and spent some time in Selwyn's bar with my college family. Was lovely to catch up with them all again!

Had a great guest lecture this morning from Prof Bill O'Neill about high power laser technology and his research with @IfMCambridge. Fantastic to hear from industry leaders here in the university.

Hi everyone!
I'm Callum, the new account manager and I'm a first year engineer at @Selwyn1882
Feel free to ask any questions you have about my experience so far and I'll try my best to answer them!
Spent 3 hours yesterday trying to get Eurovision tickets, that failed miserably due to the selling platform 💔

Walking back from a supervision on the West Cambridge site.
I love how close fields and the countryside feels to Cambridge. (previously I only lived in big cities).
Maybe some time after uni I will consider living somewhere similar :)

It’s nearly the end of week 4 (i think) of this term and I finally have my first more technical supervision of the term. There’s been some bigger delays this term with our supervisors being allocated, I tried my best to stay on top of the work just in case #CambTweet
Guess who’s exams got delayed by a day because of the Coronation? (Mine).
I’m actually so disappointed I had bought tickets to see a band in London (nearly a year ago!). I knew exams always end on a Monday and now I can’t go since I have two exams the next day :((

Had a supervision for my Environmental sustainability module at the Judge Business School, I have to say the building looking quite different from what I expected
