Voting in a Muslim won't make your country Islamic overnight but it's certainly a step in that direction

Sometimes it feels like humanity has almost made it but it's going to trip and fall at the last hurdle because some people want to blow it all up or bypass some of the essential steps

The west is only a tangible thing when you need to wield it against those you hate
Scott Galloway calls Elon Musk a "traitor to the West" and invokes the executions of the Rosenbergs after WW2. "We lined up the Rosenbergs against a wall. This is a traitor to the West, and he should be held to the same standards as every other traitor in the West." *Applause* These people are absolutely unhinged.

I don't blame people for taking advantage of our stupid policies but we should never have made property such an obvious investment choice

This is just completely unnecessary bad pr. Give the man some money

The Brazilian Supreme Court Judge revered by the Brazilian left (and now the American left for seizing Bolsonaro's passport), Alexandre de Moraes, comes from the extremist "law-and-order" faction of the Brazilian Right as well as its extreme pro-austerity neoliberal pro-banker wing. Less than a decade ago, when Moraes was nominated to the Supreme Court, the Brazilian left branded him a white supremacist, a fascist and a leader of the right-wing coup government. One of Brazil's leading left-wing politicians (@GuilhermeBoulos) explicitly accused Moraes of having committed the worst crime against humanity that exists: "RACIST GENOCIDE," by deliberately murdering poor black people en masse while he was the Justice Secretary for São Paulo Governor Geraldo Alckmin (who himself spent years being called all the same names by the Brazilian left until Lula picked Alckmin as VP in 2022). Then -- starting in 2019 -- Moraes began censoring, imprisoning and persecuting Lula's enemies and imprisoning his own critics, and was overnight transformed by the large Brazilian media and the left into the Savior of Brazilian Justice and Democracy. Only on the left can one transform from from *fascist and genocidal racist* to heroic guardian of justice in less than a decade. Also, Moraes' own corruption scandals make everyone else's seem trivial, yet his passport works just fine and he freely travels the world in great wealth that he and his family received from the corrupt billionaire banker responsible for Brazil's worst-ever banking collapse. Enjoy!

Brazilian authorities and media are trying to find out where Flavio Bolsonaro is. Brazil's notorious authoritarian Judge Alexandre de Moraes -- before the votes were counted -- already had an order prepared to seize Bolsonaro's passports and bar him from leaving the country even though **he's been charged with no crime** (there are various pending financial investigations). Moraes signed the order barring Bolsonaro from leaving Brazil SEVEN MINUTES after Lula was declared the winner on Sunday night. A media outlet in Argentina this morning reported that Bolsonaro entered Argentina to fly to the US. His friends and allies deny this, but Flavio could easily just appear in Brazil or even by video and has not done so. Argentina is being sketchy, evasive and somewhat uncooperative with Brazil's federal police (Lula and Milei are obviously not allies). Whatever else is true, it is not exactly a sign of a healthy, normal or functioning democracy when the candidate who narrowly loses a presidential race -- and concedes defeat -- is suddenly barred from leaving the country by a Supreme Court Judge now globally notorious for censoring, imprisoning and otherwise persecuting his critics and opponents of Lula's government. It is also worth noting that Bolsonaro's party dominates the Senate, having run on a vow to impeach Moraes, and this is seen by many as a kind of leverage/hostage ploy by Moraes to cling to power.

This paper answers why confident idiots run the world. Cornell University published a psychological paper that explains every terrible boss, every loud influencer, and every broken corporate hierarchy. It’s called “Unskilled and Unaware of It.” they tested participants across logic, grammar, and humor to measure the gap between actual performance and self-perception. And the results are wild. participants scoring in the bottom 12th percentile consistently believed they were operating in the 62nd percentile. they were not lying. they were literally incapable of recognizing their own incompetence. the paper revealed a brutal paradox: the exact skills required to master a domain are the exact same skills required to accurately evaluate your own competence in that domain. if you lack the skill, you inherently lack the cognitive capacity to realize you are failing. this creates a dangerous systemic loop. the incompetent are blessed with absolute, blinding certainty. their brain protects them from their own ignorance, allowing them to speak first, demand authority, and never second-guess their decisions. meanwhile, the actual experts suffer the exact inverse. top performers in the study consistently underestimated their rank. because a task was easy for them, they falsely assumed it was easy for everyone else. they hesitate. they obsess over nuance. they assume they have nothing unique to add. we are biologically wired to confuse confidence with competence. the loudest person in the room gets promoted, gets funded, and gets the microphone, not because they know what they are doing, but because they are physically incapable of seeing what they don't. the only defense mechanism is building systems that stop rewarding absolute certainty and start demanding proof of work.

The point of no return by Richard von Mises is worth reading: "A state becomes almost unreformable when the majority of the population is financially or structurally dependent on the state (state employees, civil servants, recipients of subsidies, grants, or transfer payments, etc.). As soon as those who net benefit from or are supported by the state outnumber those who do not, the system blocks reforms, since the majority votes out of self-interest for the preservation or expansion of state services." Does this sound familiar? Some European countries, France, Belgium, Finland are already way beyond that point, closely followed by Germany, Spain, Austria and Italy. It works for a while, as long as markets buy more sovereign debt at reasonable interest rates. The party ends when they stop though. For France, they stopped this month, Belgium will be next. The longer the socialist illusion persists, the more painful the inevitable cuts and adjustments will be. It’s pure arithmetic. Good luck Europe, good luck Euro. Buckle up, it won’t be pretty.

Ok, right off the bat, let me note with horror that Call Her Daddy's sponsors are huge and 100% mainstream: Macy's, Pandora, and Uber. The typical manosphere sponsor is something like "Based America Deer Jerky, Ltd." or "Crazy Joe's Gold Emporium"

If anyone hated women enough to describe a vagina like that they would almost certainly be pro-trans
You can tell how much transphobes hate all women because referring to a vagina as an "open, festering wound" is the kind of misogyny you really have to work at.

This is obviously ridiculous but there's an irony in women being upset about being discriminated against in discriminatory hiring practices
We have been warning this is what would happen. We said it clearly: women’s rights are under attack, if you don’t accurately define a woman you cannot protect any rights specific to women. We were called bigots. Received countless death threats from trans activists. The prime minister dismissed it as a “culture war”. But we were right.

New 30 km/h area speed limit signs will be posted at neighbourhood entry and exit points. Once you enter a signed area, the 30 km/h speed limit applies throughout the local road network until you leave that area. Slower speeds help reduce the risk of serious collisions and make neighbourhood streets safer. Learn more about the change: toronto.ca/LocalSpeed

People are forgetting that someone has to fix all the things these people fuck up and that raises gdp. They play a very important role
🇬🇷 Greece: Beach attendance has fallen off sharply in the past few years, and no one can figure out why. So a news team did a promotion for one local beach in hopes of stirring interest and raising the numbers a bit, but it went bad really fast. Refugees as they're called, robbed Greek beach-enjoyers while they filmed the story. Ripped jewelry right off their necks.
