A reminder that bad-faith Destiny pal Shannon Watts claimed she wouldn’t be engaging with me and I stopped engaging with her but since then she has been incessantly tweeting about, and quote-tweeting, me and attacking me. Time to mute her. But just wanted to remind everyone of what a bad faith and dishonest figure she is. Defending Israel breaks even otherwise good people’s brains.

Fuck Hasan, but fuck this lady more. She hasn't called out Jake Lang or Nick Fuentes on her side.
Amy Klobuchar has yet to call for Democrats to un-invite Hasan Piker to their election rally this evening. No criticism of Ilhan Omar for inviting Piker. No condemnation of the event. Tim Walz couldn't stand up to the far left-wing of the DFL. And neither will Klobuchar. My statement below:

Moderate liberal is a joke. This guy is a right wing psychopath.
Lifelong moderate liberal here. With Democrats nominating radicals like Abdul El-Sayed, and Democratic Party leaders cheering him on, I think this is the year where it makes sense for all common-sense, moderate, reasonable Democrats like myself to vote straight ticket GOP

Polls like this loudly put on display how shockingly incorrect leftist pundits are about the American electorate being primed for a Marxist revolution. Or even a progressive revolution (which I would prefer). If we get a public option in the next decade, we'll be lucky.
Washington Post/GMU poll | 9/10-9/14 LV (Michigan surveyed) Voters would not consider voting for presidential candidate who is… ⚛️Atheist 46% ☪️Muslim 45% ✡️Jewish 20% ✝️Christian 7%

Stop commenting on American politics. You belong in prison. Enjoy the fact that you got lucky and Trump was reelected which bailed you out, at least for now.

Today is Monday, October 26th and there are 8 days left until election day. Early voting has begun in states that have it— check your local election calendars. I don't care if you're in the bluest blue state or the reddest red state, go to the polls and vote straight ticket Democrat. We've got to strip as much power away from this administration as we can in this midterm.

This is delusional. The idea that everything has to do with Israel and Palestine is borderline psychotic. You might need to take anti-psychotic meds at this point. Palestine isn't even a top 5 issue in his state, Emma. I'm sorry if this breaks your brain, but that is not the reason people are holding out support for him.
Prime example of what we've been railing against on @majorityfm. There are financial and institutional incentives to remain on the side of genocide. Stevens is sabotaging El-Sayed on national TV, one week before the midterm, to protect her pocketbook and career over democracy.

the modern fascist movement is not only international, but it’s of a trumpist character. liberals & socialist must also participate in the fight against trumpism beyond our borders. elections is only one aspect of this fight.

This is how leftists operate. They will generally just personally attack and insult anyone they view as oppositional to them. They'll almost never engage substantively— just personal attack after personal attack. Always keep that in mind for those moments they ask for grace.
Keith Edwards & Vanguard Pod CAN'T STOP LAUGHING at Hutch Vanguard: We bullied Hutch out of his lip ring. This was a grown man balding with a lip ring Keith: But this man is bullying me on the internet. I'm being cyberbullied! Vanguard: They're going to make their lane, I'm a simp for the most hackish and corporate Democrats imaginable. Keith: I think the Democratic Party is going to make a terrible choice and start to engage with these folks.

Big disagree. I think Nate is wrong on a lot of his culture war analysis, but he's also a canary in the coal mine. If Democrats lose a guy like Nate, that means we've messaged extremely poorly.
Can't believe there was a time when we took Nate Silver seriously

These people are deranged. In 2009, American car companies were struggling, so to stimulate new car sales, the federal government offered a ~$3,500 rebate to trade in low-MPG beaters for a new car that got 22 MPG or better. In the end, about 677k cars were turned in and forcibly junked. There was a two-year period where used cars were more expensive due to lower inventory, but that obviously stabilized over a decade ago. Even if those cars weren't destroyed, maybe 1k–2k of them would still be on the road today. This guy has an actual mental illness to still be upset about a 2009 program that has literally zero effect on his life right now.
For anyone curious about what it actually looked like to kill a generation of functioning cars, here’s an actual video from 2009 and brief explanation: The dealer first replaces the oil with sodium silicate solution. It’s a clear-ish liquid that crystallizes under extreme heat. As the engine warms up the solution begins to form small abrasive crystals in the oil system that shred the bearing and score the cylinder walls. Within seconds of starting the car you can see smoke billowing from the exhaust, this is the crystals scratching the cylinder walls and leaving small grooves for oil and solution to leak past into the combustion chamber and ignite/evaporate, producing the white smoke. Pretty soon the entire crankcase is full of crystals and freshly shredded metal flakes, the engine seizes. It took about 40 seconds in this video. Some engines reportedly lasted up to 7 minutes, but all were destroyed. That strikes me as sort of sad in a way, like watching a great warrior slowly lose a heroic last stand. Now, this is the part that gets insanely wasteful. These cars were sent to federally approved recycling facilities where they had 180 days to sell the non-engine parts before they were required to prove that they had shred the entire thing into scrap steel. But, in talking to a guy who ran one such facility at the time, he typically just sent them straight to the crusher. The timeframes allotted weren’t long enough to dismantle all of the cars, and even if you could, the marginal prices of the parts was greatly diminished. You cannot sell 1000 transmissions when only 50 went bad that year, they became worthless. So just like that, in order to increase prosperity and save the environment, 677,000 entire running cars and trucks were turned directly into rebar worth a few cents per pound. The entire Obama administration was like a chapter out of atlas shrugged.

Meanwhile, Mehdi in 2024: "I think the endorsement business is a bit of a joke. I don’t think I need to come out and say, vote Kamala Harris.”
Ridiculous. For all the folks still pretending El-Sayed’s race is the same as Cooper’s or Peltola’s, do they have former Dem rivals refusing to fully endorse them on national TV? ‘Blue no matter who’ was a hypocritical centrist lie and this hypocrisy may hurt Dems in 2028.

The general premise this tweet is promoting is likely true— we need to widen the tax base. What I don't like is the fake confusion as to why the wealthy do and should pay considerably more tax than poor folks. Marginal utility and velocity of money are incredibly basic ideas that nearly any person can quickly and intuitively understand, so it seems a bit underhanded when they're left out of tax code evaluations. It is beneficial to everyone for the lower classes to lead comfortable, healthy, and fruitful lives.
Everyone's chanting "tax the rich" without actually looking at the numbers. Someone earning $200k pays roughly $42,000 in federal income tax. Someone earning $30k pays around $1,800. That means it takes about 23 people earning $30k to match what one person earning $200k contributes. So why is the policy conversation constantly aimed at pushing high earners out, when they're already carrying the overwhelming majority of the load? The issue was never how much revenue comes in. The issue is how much gets wasted once it's collected. Stop aiming at the earners. Start aiming at the spending.

What do you think the world "real" in the chart means? People are so brainwashed about material conditions these days. Life is legitimately better than ever. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try to improve things, but we also don't have to lie about the state of the world.
