Bonus episode! My first solo interview with James the man behind @podquiz! Wild thinking about how long he's been publishing this pod, and really cool as someone who's listened to it for a few years now 😁

Turning down your boiler temperature (not your thermostat) can potentially save 8% on your gas bill. House is the same temp, although it does take a bit longer to heat up. Turned ours down from 65°C to 45°C. theheatinghub.co.uk/articles…

That 45°C is important because it means when we come to replace the boiler we can go for a heat pump without needing to replace the radiators. 👍

So if you take all the electricity burned to keep the techbro pyramid scheme Bitcoin going and divide that by the number of Bitcoin transactions, each transaction uses as enough electricity to power your home for a couple of *months*! 🤬 digiconomist.net/bitcoin-ene…

Had a play with generated.photos/anonymizer which is fun and potentially useful for some folks, but I gave it my twitter profile photo and one of the results was this. Wat?!

Said goodbye to Scruff today. She's been a brilliant companion for the last twenty one years, through the best and worst of times. I've lived longer with her than any human. Sleep well little one.

Some good news - Britons are more sensible than USAians in this respect at least. Some interesting differences in *why* people wear masks though.
'We find near-identical levels of willingness to wear masks among partisans of different stripes in Britain.' New research from @LSEGovernment & @LSEEI 👇🏽 ow.ly/rvig50CoRLr
I assumed this was a funny fake, but no. Load the image from the original tweet into gimp, go to Colours->Posterise and select 5 colours.
Oh my god if you zoom in it actually said "Trump" originally How, how did we elect these idiots.

As far as I can see this one paragraph all the government information available about what details of pub/restaurant customers will be recorded, how that data will be securely transmitted, who will then have access to that data and for what purposes and for how long.

Unless these things are very clearly defined then I'm betting that a lot of people in the pub will be called "Michael Mouse". Contact tracing is so important, even the slightest whiff that your data might end up in the wrong hands is incredibly damaging.
