🚨 *SECRET MINISTERIAL ORDERS* 🚨 Some very smart people in 🇨🇦 have been sounding the alarm on this for months. Read this 👇, watch the full hour plain language Q&A with qualified lawyers at the SECU👇 @privacylawyer , read the @cancivlib statement and sign their petition 👇
Canada’s Bill C-22 would force telecoms and messaging apps to keep six months of metadata on every citizen, whether or not they’re suspected of anything. Cabinet will decide who has to comply and how, with the first regulations due up to two years after it becomes law. Companies can be fined $250,000 a day for not obeying secret ministerial orders. The minister insists it isn’t about surveilling honest Canadians. Signal would rather leave the country than find out, and Windscribe is packing too. The bill is now with a Senate committee, which is the last place anyone can change it.

📺 “We reported events one-sidedly for years”: Serbian TV apologizes to viewers after Vučić's party loses the election Radio Television of Vojvodina (RTV) opened its news broadcast with footage of celebrations following the Student List's election victory — scenes it had failed to show the previous evening. “For years, we failed to fulfill our duty. We kept silent, turned a blind eye, reported events one-sidedly, and failed to ask the necessary questions. For that, we owe our viewers an apology,” news anchor Goran Eror said. Following the controversy, RTV's acting editor-in-chief Nenad Čačić resigned. A similar incident occurred in Hungary, where state television also apologized to viewers after Viktor Orbán's election defeat.
🎉🎉 Serbia celebrates Vučić's defeat all night — now he's warning the country about sanctions against Russia After 14 years of Aleksandar Vučić's political dominance, his bloc has lost the snap parliamentary elections. The opposition Student List, which emerged from mass anti-government protests, has claimed victory. According to preliminary figures from Ipsos and CeSID, the students secured around 53% of the vote, while Vučić's coalition received approximately 39%. The former president acknowledged defeat. He estimated that the winners could secure 135–140 seats in Serbia's 250-member parliament. But he couldn't resist issuing a warning about Russia. Vučić claimed the new government could impose sanctions on Moscow as early as March or April. Meanwhile, Belgrade and other Serbian cities celebrated the student movement's victory throughout the night, with car horns, singing, and crowds cheering in the streets. Final election results are still pending.

I am Yemeni. Saudi Arabia has deprived me of my right to travel, my right to the country's wealth, my right to live, my right to move between Yemeni governorates, and my right to obtain a passport except with permission from the Saudi embassy. And then they expect us to remain silent.

Israeli settlers deliberately sabotaging voting at polling stations in Palestinian towns —— Knesset member and Ta’al party leader Ahmad Tibi accused Israeli settlers of intentionally delaying the voting process across Palestinian towns during parliamentary elections. In a statement posted on social media, Tibi revealed that organized groups of settlers entered Palestinian towns to disrupt operations at local polling centers, deliberately causing extreme delays and forcing voters to endure hours-long lines. The lawmaker noted that the artificial congestion caused a sick Palestinian woman to faint while waiting in line to cast her ballot. Tibi condemned the disruptions as a desperate tactic to suppress Palestinian voter participation and manipulate the outcome of the general election. Addressing those attempting to derail the vote, the veteran politician emphasized that the community would not be deterred by political intimidation, writing: "It won’t help you. People will stay there until they cast their votes."

Israel-a nation state-is committing genocide. The Jewish people as a group are not. Feldshuh is conflating Israel with the Jewish people which serves antisemitism while Brody simply made clear he supports a free Palestine

Today in Turmus’ayya: Soldiers briefly allowed farmers access to a fraction of their trees, though snipers kept a close watch from occupied building. Then local settler leader Amishav Melet arrived with a military escort and yelled at soldiers to evict the farmers. The soldiers obeyed “Captain Amishav,” as locals call him, rounding up the farmers and expelling them from their own land. Full video coming soon.

Thank you @cmhn_ca for having me in Ottawa talk about my experiences of anti-Palestinian racism at Sinai Health. It was a beautiful night of community, love, and connection with so many wonderful people from across the country and abroad. No one, including healthworkers, should be targeted in their workplaces for speaking out and organizing against a genocide. Together, our voices are louder and our organizing is more powerful. Canadian Muslim Healthcare Network is doing incredible work across sectors to push back against Islamophobia, anti-Arab hate, and anti-Palestinian racism in healthcare. Learn more about their work here: cmhn.ca/ And always, Free Palestine. ❤️🇵🇸
A powerful Toronto Star investigation reveals how 10-year veteran physician Dr. Kavita Algu was forced to resign from Sinai Health after facing a hostile environment for speaking out against the destruction of Gaza's healthcare system.

Today CBC published an article with the headline: “Why a spate of gun-for-hire shootings in Toronto were likely paid for by Iran.” I was intrigued, as there has been almost 0 evidence offered for this claim thus far. Unfortunately this article doesn’t offer any either, adding nothing new. CBC says they spent weeks on the investigation, so these are pretty pitiful results, at least in terms of finding evidence of who paid for the shootings. I’m not sure why they feel comfortable with such a declarative headline given the lack of evidence (other than journalistic standards going out the window when the subject is an Official Enemy country). Also, CBC and other journalists continue platforming police claims that they need backdoor access to messaging apps to solve these shootings, with no push back or critique about how these powers can be abused, including against journalists. cbc.ca/news/investigates/ira…
