As someone who has held varying levels of clearance most of their life, I second this.

Many people I know were laid off without cause this year. It is hard but can happen for economic reasons. I will always be grateful for the support my division and team gave me. We worked together to make it as positive as possible. That is leadership. Leaders support employees.
