𝐂𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋 ππŽπ— π’π‚π€πŒ: It may seem funny but this is serious stuff. Scammers have come up with something new….and recently, we’ve had at least 4 Clay County residents fall victim to this losing over $60k in total. They’re calling or FaceTiming victims, pretending to be from a local bank saying your account has fraud activity. They’ll ask you to withdraw money so they can put it into a new account and β€œprotect” it; from there they’ll ask you drive to a grocery store, buy a box of cereal and place to the money into the cereal box… then meet up with someone for the transaction. Scammers have been urging victims to stay on the phone during the entire process and to not tell anybody. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS! If you get a suspicious call, feel like you’ve been a victim of fraud or have any questions about scams - please call us immediately at 904-264-6512. #CCSOFL #ProudlyServing #ScamAlert

𝐍𝐎 π“π‘πˆπ‚πŠπ’, 𝐍𝐎 𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐒! πŸŽƒ Halloween is around the corner, and your family’s safety is our top priority. There are 268 sexual offenders and 87 sexual predators in our county; they’re not allowed to participate at all - the only door knocks they get are from our Fugitive/Sexual Offender Apprehension Unit. We’ve been busy verifying addresses and conducting compliance checks, making sure they’re in full compliance with state statutes and county ordinances. Before planning your child’s trick-or-treat route, you can always check the sexual offender registry at offender.fdle.state.fl.us/of… to see if any sexual offenders or predators live in your neighborhood. This resource allows you to view maps that pinpoint registered offenders’ addresses in your area. As always, see something say something! Call 904-264-6512, 911, or report it on the SaferWatch app. #CCSOFL #ProudlyServing #Halloween

The threat was written on a bathroom wall indicating there would be a school shooting the first week of November. This information was given to our School Resource Officer, and we immediately began looking into the threat. After a thorough investigation, in conjunction with Clay County District Schools, we discovered the student who reported the threat was the individual who wrote it. The suspect was arrested on the charge listed below and transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice - Duval County Detention Center. The suspect will also face disciplinary action in accordance with the school district's Student Code of Conduct. 836.10(2) Written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or an act of terrorism (2) It is unlawful for any person to send, post, or procure the sending, posting or transmission of, a writing or other record, including an electronic record, in any manner in which it may be viewed another person, when in such writing or record the person makes a threat to: (a) Kill or do bodily harm to another person; or (b) Conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism. The Clay County Sheriff's Office takes all threats involving our schools seriously and we appreciate the coordination with Clay County District Schools to ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. Our schools are places for growing and learning without fear or harm. As always, we encourage our community to report any threats or suspicious activity at schools through the FortifyFL app, the SaferWatch app, or by contacting the Clay County Sheriff's Office by phone at (904)264-6512.

πƒπŽπ† πŠπˆπ‹π‹π„π‘ 𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐃 Back in August 2026, Cole Daughtry’s girlfriend at the time was looking through photos and videos on her phone from February and found something disturbing involving her dog, Nina. Videos recorded showed Daughtry torturing her dog several times, including Nina’ snout taped shut, legs taped together and Daughtry was seen strangling her dog. Nina ultimately passed away. Daughty had previously told his former girlfriend that Nina had died from natural causes, and he buried her while she wasn’t home. His former girlfriend confronted him and then notified law enforcement. Daughtry was charged with and has since pled guilty to one count of aggravated animal cruelty; he pled to the statutory maximum of 5 years in prison at the first pretrial hearing. β€œTo call this case disturbing is simply an understatement and there’s no excuse for this kind of cruelty,” Sheriff Michelle Cook said. β€œI’m grateful to our detectives who worked on this case and our partners at the State Attorney’s Office in holding this defendant accountable.”

Calls continued to come into our dispatch center saying the man was threatening to shoot several people and had several community members in fear for their lives. The suspect was identified as Anthony Hagan. Clay County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies, Task Force and SWAT Units responded immediately and set up a perimeter around his home. While SWAT members were monitoring the residence, Hagan got into his vehicle and attempted to leave. Due to the active charges against him and potential threat to the community, SWAT members moved to stop the vehicle. Hagan drove his vehicle into a ditch before surrendering to Deputies. Hagan was taken into custody without further incident. Hagan was placed into custody without incident and being charged with six counts of aggravated assault, as well as an outstanding warrant of trespassing. β€œThis is a prime example of how our patrol and specialty units work together to keep our community safe,” Sheriff Michelle Cook said. β€œWe had a dangerous and erratic individual who posed a serious threat to our community; thanks to the quick response and coordination of our team, he was taken off our streets safely and promptly.” While Hagan has been placed under arrest, this investigation is still ongoing. On August 17, 2026, detectives with our task force received information regarding a Ward who lost over $100,000 to their temporary Guardian. Our victim had been diagnosed with multiple health issues and was unable to independently manage their own assets. After their rights were restored, they couldn’t access their money and they discovered all of it had been depleted. Investigative efforts revealed for over seven years, Sullivan made wire transfers from the victim’s account to her own personal account. She also wrote herself checks that drained the victim’s account and made debit card transactions. This is exactly why this task force was created. A vulnerable member of our community had their livelihood entrusted to the hands of someone who was supposed to care of them. Instead, they were taken advantage of. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the Clay County Clerk’s of Court’s Office and all our partners will continue to identify and hold those accountable who exploit vulnerable individuals. We’re here to protect our community and make sure the bad actors won’t get away with this type of exploitation.

After a thorough child exploitation investigation was conducted by our Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, with assistance from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) and the North Florida INTERCEPT Task Force, a search warrant was served on 9/29/26 at a residence on Blackhawk Ct. in Fleming Island. The occupants of the residence exited and were detained without incident. As a result of the investigation, probable cause was developed to arrest one of the occupants, Robert Rahn III. It should be noted that Rahn III previously worked as a behavioral health assistant at Middleburg High School from August 2021 to February 2022 and volunteered to assist the football team. We also have reason to believe he coached or volunteered for youth football teams in the Nassau County and Tallahassee areas. Rahn was booked into the Clay County Jail, however the investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information that might be of assistance in this investigation is encouraged to contact Detective Lunsford at [email protected] or by phone at 904-264-6512.
