"Being trans" requires no psychological gatekeeping on principle; indeed, the practice of differential diagnosis has given way to its opposite, compelled affirmation by any and all, including "medical professionals" whose duty is to accept any person's claim to be the sex they are not, and start them on a course of hormonal interventions with volatile effects on cognition and mood if the person requests it. 2.) Transgender identities have always been mentally comorbid with other mood and personality disorders and sexual paraphilias (which cluster). There is a high incidence of autism, depression, anxiety, disordered eating and cutting in this mentally comorbid cohort, along with suicidal ideation. 3.) Transgender identities are rebellious and oppositional adolescent postures that naturally attract troubled and disaffected children with identity issues. Indeed, rather than being seen by clinicians as the product of other comorbidities, wherever it is claimed, "minority stress" becomes the favored explanation for all other comorbidities, with social affirmation and gender medicalization being prioritized, leaving other diagnoses and treatments for the underlying distress that manifests as trans identity unaddressed. Trans identification piles atop all these unaddressed problems, the inherent stresses and difficulties of making your self-esteem radically dependent on others accepting you as something you are not, making daily life a gauntlet of humiliations for the vast majority of trans identified people who do not pass as the sex they are not. 4.) Adopting a transgender identity comes with a host of social and political privileges and immunities; you acquire the right to violate sex-based boundaries based on a claim to be something you are not; you obtain deference to imperious demands that other people affirm an inner conception of yourself that you claim to have. It's a great tool to bully and control other people and a great way to extract special treatment either compelled by law or offered voluntarily by believers in transgender dogmas and therefore exerts a gravitational pull not just on fragile narcissists seeking to buttress a weak and dissociated sense of self but also on malignant narcissists and psychopaths who will flow toward social affordance that grants them power over others. 5.) The movement relies on emotional blackmail and threats of suicide in the first instance -- when parents are told that failure to consent to transgender medicalization presents a virtual certainty of suicide -- and relies on hysterical, histrionic, hyperbole claims to create ingroup solidarity through a compelling LARP and to extract further tribute from the political apparatus in thrall to them. Transgender ideologues routinely equate excluding men from women's volleyball teams or domestic violence shelters or accurate verbal references to the material fact of a person's sex with "genocide," thereby teaching troubled and mentally comorbid young people that mass violence is self-defense against genocide. The photo on the left is of two of one of two film director brothers who began claiming to be women after immersion in transgender porn and BDSM subcultures claiming that JK Rowling's exclusion of men from a women's domestic violence shelter is genocidal. The photo on the right is of an 18-year old who had been affirmed as a "girl" since the age of 12, an intervention purported to protect him against the risk of suicide, who murdered his murder and brother and six people at a middle school in a rural town in British Columbia. The photo of him posing with a gun with a trans flag wrapped around its muzzle was sent right before his murder rampage to another trans-identified male in the US, who egged him on in reply, who has been charged as a co-conspirator in the murder. US prosecutors released the photo which Canadian police hid. Canadian media continues to refer to both the mass murderer and his accomplice as "women," honoring the gender identities of two male "partners in crime," since affirming transgender identities takes priority over providing a factual account of who the murderers of Canadian children actually are.
