Bye, bye Virginia Foxx the horrible woman who claimed that the murder and torture of gay college student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming in 1998 was a hoax and not a hate crime. I do not forgive you ma’am.

I have been informed that they prefer "please may I have" to "please may I get" In that case: please may I have the 6 counties back
Why do them clowns in England hate when you say "can I get" in a restaurant? What the fuck else are we meant to say?

The curious thing is that the Latin American right are hitching their wagons to an administration with two years left. Diplomacy with a Democratic president will be very difficult after having acted as foreign disciples of Trumpism.
Absolutely. The Brazilian dictatorship, which was not a monolith (Geisel not the same as Castelo Branco) had a foreign policy, particularly in the 70s, which was aligned with the U.S. in the Cold War but quite independent in other aspects, including the support for several Third Worldist causes at the multilateral level. Jair Bolsonaro displayed none of that foreign policy independence during his mandate, and his son would very likely be worse, with Brazil likely relegated to being a neocolonial appendage.

I think people would have reacted to the railroad very differently if Cornelius Vanderbilt kept saying the trains are alive and want to kill you.
This kind of public panic is something I have never seen in living memory. Probably nothing like it since the Industrial Revolution. We seem to have adapted to other innovations like computerization, process optimization, the car, and air travel without this kind of mass panic.

The decade-long hold Trump has had on this country is both shocking and unsurprising to me. Shocking that someone so stupid and incompetent could lead a superpower. Unsurprising because there is a very strong anti-intellectual, anti-social current in American society.
I could only make it halfway through this transcript before I had to stop. It’s almost unbelievable that this man is the President of the United States. He rarely finishes a coherent thought. At one point, he actually says that all of his decisions “are correct ones.” His explanations of the national debt and basic economics are astonishingly muddled. And he makes false claim after false claim with absolute confidence. I can't tell if he's just doesnt care that he's lying or actually belives the lies himself. Reading the transcript—not watching him, not hearing the delivery, just reading his actual words—is jarring. time.com/article/2026/10/01/…

Imagine if the Australian Prime Minister decided to simply demolish the Sydney Opera House. We’d think there’s something deeply wrong with both the Prime Minister himself and with a system that allows that to happen.
Probably gonna get canceled for this take but I just think the obsession around the Kennedy Center is so elite focused when we are in an illegal war and everything is unaffordable. Just seems like a DC issue that gets so much undeserved media attention because it’s in DC.

That’s the point. A union of countries in which one is vastly larger than the others can never be a union of equals. So, the choice is either to give Scotland and Wales a degree of political power that is disproportionate to their size or see the Union eventually break apart.
This argument is basically asking for minority rule and something really unfair to basic voting fairness. There are nearly 60 million people in England. 84% of the total uk population. The entitlement and disdain for basic democracy and fairness is staggering.
