Correct. The average person will not do things like this for two reasons.
1. They don't think about tool making, they think about tool using.
2. Making tools is a detail oriented process that most people don't have the patience for. That's why there are programmers in the first place. We revel in those details.

Genocide is the intentional killing of non-combatant civilians in an attempt to reduce or eliminate the numbers of a particular race, nation, or ideology.
Hamas is genocidal, their charter demands the destruction of Israel. (They watered it down recently, but their intent is still clear)
October 7th was an act of Genocide since it was motivated by Hamas' chartered intention and was indiscriminate in the brutality and targeting of the killings. Hamas must be stopped.
Iran supplied weapons and training and financial support for Hamas, a clearly genocidal organization. Iran also regularly proclaims "Death to Israel. Death to America". Iran has genocidal intent. Iran, and its proxies, must be stopped.
Israel concluded that they must stop Hamas. Hamas hides behind civilians. This makes Hamas doubly genocidal since the more civilians that are killed the happier they seem to be.
Israel send leaflets, texts, phone calls to warn the population. They sent tons of food and supplies to support the population. They set aside refuges for the population. Genocidal nations don't do that.
Yes, a lot of Palestinians were killed in the fighting. Terrible. 20,000+ Germans were killed in the Dresden fire bombing. Awful. 100,000+ Japanese were killed in the Tokyo firebombing. ~210,000 Japanese will killed by the nuclear attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
None of those actions were genocidal. The attackers had no genocidal intent. Their goal was to stop their enemies from further attacks.
There are "experts" for everything. The UN is full of "experts". But any "expert" that claims that Israel is committing a genocide is either horrifyingly ignorant or selling something evil.
2026-09-04 - Release of SLF4J version 2.0.19
• When the fluent API was used with XLogger/LoggerWrapper in the slf4j-ext module, caller location was incorrectly reported. To correct this, LoggerWrapper now delegates makeLoggingEventBuilder() to the wrapped logger so that the application caller can be correctly extracted. This issue was reported in issues/464.
• In slf4j-api/DefaultLoggingEventBuilder, a failing toString() invocation on a key-value value, including StackOverflowError, no longer aborts logging. The builder now substitutes [FAILED toString()], matching the existing behaviour of MessageFormatter for message arguments. This issue was reported in issues/448.
The isLoggable() method in SLF4JPlatformLogger now maps System.Logger.Level.ALL and Level.OFF the same way as log(), that is ALL as TRACE and OFF as ERROR, instead of treating both as always loggable. This is a follow-up to the changes introduced in 2.0.17. See issues/430.
• Published JAR files now package each module's own LICENSE.txt under META-INF/. Previously the parent POM copied the repository-root MIT license into every module, so Apache-2.0 modules such as jcl-over-slf4j and log4j-over-slf4j shipped the wrong license text. This issue was reported in issues/465.

It's sad when experts leave. The less sad part: "LLM is fascism" as an argument shows that deep expertise in one domain doesn't transfer. You can be world-class at packaging and still reason about new technology in slogans.

AI has completely changed what I loved about software engineering.
Earlier, you’d sit with a problem, understand it deeply, write the code, break it, debug it, and eventually own the solution.
Now so much of engineering feels like staring at a screen waiting for an agent to finish.
And the worst part isn’t even that AI writes code. It’s that we’re slowly losing ownership of the codebase.
AI generates thousands of lines we barely read. The code becomes a black box. Then something breaks, and suddenly you’re expected to debug a system you never really understood in the first place.
At the same time, constantly delegating thinking to agents feels like it’s destroying our attention span and our ability to patiently read, reason about, and understand code.
Maybe we’re shipping faster.
But sometimes it genuinely feels like we’re becoming worse engineers while our codebases become harder to understand.

Just drove from Belgium 🇧🇪 to Denmark 🇩🇰 through the Netherlands 🇳🇱.
Best road trip I’ve ever done. FSD Supervised handled the highways, border crossings and traffic so I only had to supervise.
Zero fatigue, pure scenery and calm the whole way.

Here is a github command test a PR without actually merging:
git fetch origin pull/N/head:B
where 'origin' is your local name for the remote repo (usually just 'origin'), N is the pull request number and B is the local branch name *you* wish to use locally

We hired a new VP of Engineering who is obsessed with agile methodology.
He called a meeting on his first day and said we need to transition to 2-week development sprints.
He wanted daily stand-ups, retrospective boards, and continuous deployment pipelines.
He wanted us to actually write new code.
I realized immediately that he was an existential threat to my lifestyle.
I let him finish his impassioned speech about workflow velocity.
Then I stood up, walked to the whiteboard, and drew a single horizontal line.
I told him agile sprints are a localized solution for a localized mindset.
I said our infrastructure operates on a Zenith Release Cycle.
He asked what a Zenith Release Cycle was.
I told him it's a holistic, macro-stabilization framework where we observe the system in a state of prolonged stasis.
By not touching the code for 18 months, we allow the legacy dependencies to organically settle.
I told him that deploying bi-weekly updates creates micro-abrasions in our database architecture.
I used the phrase chronological data scarring.
The CEO was in the room and audibly gasped.
He told the new VP that we can't risk chronological data scarring just to satisfy a trendy tech buzzword.
The VP looked at me like I'd just invented a new color.
He was completely paralyzed by the sheer density of my fabricated jargon.
He quietly agreed to adopt the Zenith Release Cycle.
We're officially scheduled to deploy our next update in the third quarter of 2027.
I spent the rest of the afternoon buying things I don't need on Amazon.
Agile is a disease invented by people who want to be punished for their salary.
I refuse to participate in my own suffering.

My father was born into money. His father was the treasurer of a major steel company. My father had an inheritance of stock that paid dividends that should have sustained him for his life and beyond. But the American steel industry collapsed in the 60s and the dividends ended. He was a junior high school science teacher and had no way to support his home and family. So my mother went to work. Even that wasn't enough. So my father borrowed against his life insurance. He died at 50 with few assets.
My inheritance was $1,500, and a good strong work ethic. My father's remaining capital, if that's what you want to call it, was little benefit to me. But that work ethic was.
So the next time you want to bet about what "this guy" will answer, you might want to politely ask instead of sneering.
