Why does tau pathology often begin in the entorhinal cortex in Alzheimer’s disease?
We show that brain-wide gradients of neuronal activity and amyloid-β may make this region particularly vulnerable to tau pathology.

It has long been suspected that neuronal activity may promote early spreading of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's.
In this paper with @cgAlexandersen and @BickMath, we show that this may indeed occur through a symmetry breaking bifurcation
