ALT Are 200 neoclouds about to collapse? That question took over the AI infrastructure debate on October 25. That day, Elon Musk posted that SpaceX had closed $40 billion of debt for GPUs, and that it could do so because it is investment grade and has Starlink and launch revenue. He also wrote that debt markets “have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers,” and that “200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation.”1 Within a day, the coverage turned to who would be eaten first.

ALT Rising data center power demand growth is reshaping U.S. energy planning by accelerating new generation builds, nuclear uprates, and storage deployments across grid operator footprints. Black Hills Corp. will add 564 MW of new natural gas generation at its Cheyenne Prairie site in Wyoming between 2027 and 2029, while managing 2.1 GW of third-party turbine and fuel cell resources to serve Google’s planned data center 1. Constellation Energy and Google will add 890 MW of capacity at 11 existing nuclear plants across PJM through equipment upgrades, with the first project expected online by 2028 and full completion in the early 2030s 4. In response to reliability shortfalls, PJM plans to acquire 6.8 GW of new capacity to cover a gap from its last two base capacity auctions 9. Meanwhile, 4-hour battery storage is now 65% to 75% cheaper than new open-cycle gas peakers in the U.S. for 2026 commercial operation, according to Wood Mackenzie 8.

ALT Name the person: the visionpreneur We have words for people who start companies. “Entrepreneur” describes someone who takes on risk to build a business. “Solopreneur” describes someone who works alone. Neither describes what is actually changing. What is changing is who holds the leverage. The scarce input in the economy used to be labor and capital. More and more, it is vision: the ability to see something that doesn’t exist yet, clearly enough and far enough ahead to build it. Visionpreneur (n.): a founder whose main asset is a long-range vision, and who uses AI to turn that vision into a working company without the headcount that work once required.
