Apparently I write haikus now.
What is freedom's end? Cut cords bear opposite fruit, The noose and lifeline.
Death reigns, enthroned by One representing many, Through death, enthroned life.
Ignorance? Justice Delayed awaits the reveal Patience. Mercy weds.
I do hear, and yet Will law-inscribed hearts condemn? Justified, I do.

I am grieving. I am grieving over the systemic oppression that has existed in our nation for so long. I am grieving over the violence our nation, and in particular Louisville, has seen in the past week.

My prayer this morning is that the Lord who avenges blood would judge those responsible for oppression and that all those who are oppressed would put their hope in the one who does not forget the cry of the afflicted.
