Most AI films don't look fake because the model is bad.
They look fake because nobody directed the light.
You can generate 4K footage, perfect faces, and elaborate camera moves. But if everything is evenly bright, the scene still feels artificial.
Traditional filmmakers have spent decades learning to control light. AI filmmakers need those same skills.
Here are 6 lighting rules that changed how I approach AI scenes:
→ Start with one key light. Place it 30–60° to one side and slightly above eye level. Direction gives a face shape.
→ Shoot the shadow side. Position the camera toward the darker side of the face. You get depth without asking for "more cinematic."
→ Motivate the light. A window, lamp, monitor, or streetlight should explain where the glow comes from. Random light sources make a scene feel staged.
→ Light the environment first. Give the room depth, then light your character to match it. Otherwise, they look pasted onto the background.
→ Use negative fill. Sometimes the fix is removing reflected light, not adding more. Keep the shadows that give a face dimension.
→ Control softness. A big, close source creates gradual shadows. A small, hard source creates sharp ones. Choose based on the story.
Now compare these AI video prompts:
Weak: "Ultra-realistic cinematic lighting, dramatic mood, 4K."
Better: "Warm practical lamp frame-left motivates a large soft key 45° off axis, slightly above eye level. Camera on the shadow side. Cool window glow shapes the background. Gentle falloff; negative fill deepens the near cheek."
One is a list of adjectives.
The other is a lighting setup a cinematographer could actually build.
That difference matters whether you're generating a single image, an AI short film, or a full commercial.
I built this lighting playbook to make those principles easier to apply, scene by scene.
Better AI films won't come from prompts that sound cinematic. They'll come from people who know how to direct a shot.

🚨 BREAKING: Ted Nugent takes the stage at the Trump rally and calls himself exactly what the left calls us.
"I'm a radical. I'm an extremist."
Then he listed what makes him so "extreme."
It's God, family, country, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Ten Commandments, the Golden Rule, work ethic, law and order, self-defense and private property rights.
That's not extremism. That's the America our grandparents built.
Democrats spent years treating parents at school boards and Catholics at Mass like threats.
Now they're scared because we stopped apologizing.
Call us extremists. We'll see you at the ballot box.

- You: "But inflation was 8%. I only really gained 2%."
- Government: "We tax the full 10%."
- You: "You tax the inflation you created?"
- Government: "Capital gains are capital gains."
- You: "So you profit from debasing my money twice?"
- Government: "You're not an economist."

Most AI video prompts fail before generation even starts.
Not because the model is bad.
Because the prompt says:
“Cinematic man running through a city. Realistic. 4K.”
That describes a vibe.
It does not direct a shot.
A professional AI filmmaking prompt should answer:
→ What should the audience notice?
→ Who is in the frame?
→ What exactly are they doing?
→ Where is the camera?
→ What lens are we using?
→ How does the actor perform?
→ Where does the light come from?
→ What physically reacts to the action?
→ Where does this shot begin and end?
The framework I use is:
INTENT → SUBJECT + ACTION → FRAME → OPTICS → CAMERA → PERFORMANCE + PHYSICS → LIGHT + SPACE → CONTINUITY
Here is what that actually means.
1. INTENT
Before writing anything, decide what this shot is doing.
Reveal information?
Create tension?
Show scale?
Capture a reaction?
If the shot has no purpose, camera language will not save it.
2. SUBJECT + ACTION
Do not write:
“Man is scared.”
Write the behavior:
“He freezes at the doorway, eyes tracking toward the sound, shoulders tightening before he slowly steps backward.”
Prompt visible behavior.
3. FRAME
Define what the camera sees.
→ Wide = geography and scale
→ Medium = action and relationships
→ Close-up = emotion and reaction
→ Insert = important detail
Then add angle, height and composition only when they matter.
4. OPTICS
Lens choice changes the image.
→ 24mm = environment, perspective, speed
→ 35mm = natural spatial energy
→ 50mm = balanced human perspective
→ 85mm = compression and intimacy
→ Macro = tactile detail
Do not add “35mm” because it sounds cinematic.
Know why it is there.
5. CAMERA
Use one motivated camera behavior.
Static.
Push-in.
Pull-back.
Tracking.
Handheld.
Pan.
Tilt.
Crane.
Orbit.
The camera should move because the story gains something.
6. PERFORMANCE + PHYSICS
This is where many AI shots collapse.
Direct:
→ eyelines
→ breathing
→ hesitation
→ posture
→ weight shifts
→ foot contact
→ momentum
→ clothing response
→ object interaction
→ balance and recovery
“Runs fast” is weak direction.
“Accelerates, loses traction for half a step, catches his balance and keeps moving” gives the model physical information.
7. LIGHT + SPACE
Describe motivated lighting.
Not:
“Beautiful cinematic lighting.”
Instead:
“Warm sodium light from camera-right, cool ambient rain fill, hard reflections across wet asphalt.”
Then describe only the environmental details that affect the shot.
8. CONTINUITY
Every shot exists between two states.
Define:
→ start position
→ screen direction
→ costume
→ props
→ injuries
→ scale
→ geography
→ end position
This matters even more when generating multiple clips.
And one major distinction:
Text-to-video and image-to-video should not be prompted the same way.
Text-to-video needs more visual information.
Image-to-video already has the character, composition, lighting and environment.
So stop describing the reference image again.
Prompt the motion:
→ camera motion
→ subject motion
→ performance
→ environmental motion
→ timing
→ continuity
The biggest rule:
One shot. One camera setup. One clear beat.
Do not cram five actions, three camera moves and two emotional changes into an 8-second generation.

There’s a reason the MSM had no interest in showing this historic day.
They cannot allow the public to see that Trump is respected by global leaders, and is not the incompetent fool they claimed he was.
Biden/Kamala couldn’t complete a sentence, let alone gain the respect of the world and reset the global rules of engagement.

Bertrand Russell warned of a 'scientific dictatorship' aiming to convince people 'snow is black.' Today, a similar fear drives elites to control narratives. Trump's policies challenge this, exposing propaganda and sparking a fight for truth. #TruthSeeker #MediaBias #Election2024
