A difference in position doesn’t rise to the level of Parliamentary misconduct.
The Opposition should be called out for attempting to abuse the Parliamentary Process by agreeing to a motion and then trying to use a Parliamentary disciplinary process with absolutely no basis.

This is an opportunity to further strengthen our commitment to mobilising global action through the Global Biodiversity Alliance and to shape a future where biodiversity conservation delivers real economic opportunities and lasting prosperity for people and communities across the Commonwealth and beyond.
You can't demand accountability from the government while extending endless passes to your own members for equally egregious offences. That isn't principled leadership, it's blatant hypocrisy and a glaring double standard.
Jamaica deserves a better Opposition.

🚨GORDON HOUSE: SOME IMPORTANT CONTEXT JAMAICANS SHOULD UNDERSTAND.
Following my conversation with Minister Floyd Green, Leader of Government Business, one distinction is particularly important: the original motion on Cuba addressed its economic and humanitarian conditions. It did not direct Jamaica to vote against the US embargo at the United Nations.
The Opposition supported that motion without proposing an amendment. Its subsequent censure motion challenged the Government's decision to abstain at the UN and sought to make that decision the subject of parliamentary condemnation. But how can the Government be accused of misleading Parliament over a position that the original motion did not expressly require it to disclose or defend?
The Opposition had other options: amend the original motion, introduce a separate substantive motion on Jamaica's foreign policy position, or use the International and External Affairs Committee to question the Ministry.
On Standing Order 38, I believe the Speaker acted within her authority. The provision exists to bring debate to a close, subject to safeguards against abuse and infringement of minority rights. Parliament cannot be expected to entertain hours of repetitive debate when the arguments have been made and the House is ready to decide.
Minister Green also disputes the claim that the Opposition requested a division on the closure question and was silenced. His account is that the request came later, as the House moved to the subsequent question. The distinction matters because two separate questions were before the House.
The episode also raises questions about whether the Opposition fully considered the original motion and the available parliamentary procedures before pursuing censure. That is a question worth examining, not a conclusion to assume.
Parliament must allow robust scrutiny, but scrutiny must operate within its rules. Disagreement with Government policy is not, by itself, evidence that Parliament was misled. And parliamentary procedure must be understood before it is used as a weapon in political argument.
I think it's obvious that the bar for the JLP is so high that even God should look up to it, while the bar for the PNP is so low it's in hell.
Idc what led up to this, but Mikael Phillips pushing the LOO out of the way to fight a member IN PARLIAMENT was completely unacceptable.
"UNFAITHFUL TO THE TRUTH"
If Member Phillips cannot honestly give account for his actions without adding lies and spinning the narrative, then His Leader and Party must decide if that is their standard...
He will not, however, be allowed to mislead Jamaicans about what we have seen with his own eyes, and then lay false allegations against other members and myself to cover for his actions.
The session of parliament was recorded for all to see. For MP Phillips to be so dishonest, as to accuse me of being malicious and making false statements when clear video evidence exists is beyond vile.
You pushed the Opposition leader not once, but TWICE. If you do not wish to Apologise to him that is okay but stop the fairy tales.

CONFLATION. PNP tries to trick by conflating 2 separate matters - a motion supporting Cuba + the UN vote. After voting for the motion, yesterday they tried a BACKDOOR way to link both.
Theyve a right to disagree but shldve done so with a no confidence vote, not censure motion

Jamaica is open for business, and we are building for the future.
In my address to the Caribbean United in Excellence Summit, I highlighted the work Jamaica has done to strengthen our economy, manage our debt and create an environment where investors can have confidence in our country.
Following the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa, our focus is now on rebuilding and preparing Jamaica to withstand future disasters. We have secured approximately US$5 billion in financing, and through the National Reconstruction and Resilience Authority, we are working to turn those resources into roads, buildings, infrastructure and other projects that will improve the lives of our people.
This recovery also presents an opportunity to modernise our country, develop new skills, create opportunities for Jamaican businesses and strengthen our capacity to deliver major projects.
I am inviting investors, contractors and partners across the Commonwealth to be part of this effort. Jamaica has important work ahead, and we welcome partnerships that will help us rebuild, create jobs and secure a stronger future for our people.
