Congrats to PhD student Chen Chen, who won a poster award at the 21st annual Community Modeling and Analysis System conference. His research suggests that the flaring of natural gas at U.S. drilling sites contributed to dozens of premature deaths in 2019. bit.ly/3WLYvqU

we previously used InMAP in our flaring study (doi.org/10.3390/atmos1303038…) to estimate air/health damages in the US. Now it could extend to other countries where gas flaring is a longlasting problem (e.g. Nigeria, Venezuela)

This is infuriating - these climate activists don't speak for me. Harming every day people who are just trying to get on with their lives isn't climate action. Meanwhile, state govts, utility commissions, & astroturf groups are passing laws that actually impede climate action.
