EXCLUSIVE: I spent several years following Alex through a constellation of taxpayer funded homeless housing facilities in Seattle.
He eventually settled in the Downtown Emergency Service Center's North Star.
DESC is the poster child for "Housing First" in WA.
Politicians and far-left activists will also refer to this model as low barrier permanent supportive housing.
Alex showed me what he does all day:
-Wakes up
-Get's free drug supplies at front desk
-Takes bus to find his fentanyl dealer
-Comes back to his room in the North Star
-Smokes drugs all day
-Zero requirements to get into addiction treatment
-Zero requirements to find a job
-He rarely sees his DESC case manager
-Alex admits he has no purpose in life
-Rinse and repeat
After more than a decade of trying this failed public policy, the Trump administration is defunding "Housing First" and reallocating the money into treatment and recovery providers.
The homeless industrial complex is shook and now fear mongering, claiming more people will be forced onto the streets. That's a lie.
In response, WA Democrats have taken the bait from Homeless INC and are trying to prop up this failed model by potentially raising taxes to offset funding losses. This is a scandal. 🧵👇
NEW: Court documents show the Seattle woman accused of behaving like a cannibal lived in one of the the most crime-ridden homeless housing facilities in the city.
Yet somehow the Downtown Emergency Service Center continues to get a pass for all the bad behavior and chaos caused by its unhinged residents. How come?
In this Discovery Institute investigation, we scrutinized DESC's powerful connections to WA politics and examined how a network of power brokers in the region appear to be running cover for this controversial organization.

I couldn't believe my eyes, just burned up upside down cars lying on the street. The crazier part was just seeing people walk around it like it was nothing.
In the video you'll see interviews I did with an anarchist and a communist that justified the riots. You'll hear from a woman who feels unsafe going home after work every night. Most of all you'll actually see that the majority of the people in the city do not want their city to burn.

Downtown Seattle Association hired Community Solutions a 501(c)(3) with $183M in assets that got a $100M MacArthur grant in 2021 to tell Seattle’s Homeless Industrial Complex it needs to coordinate better and put people on a by-name list.
No public safety at the table.
No We Heart Seattle.
No Union Gospel Mission or Salvation Army. (or mention of faith based partners)
No clean-and-sober providers like The More We Love, Oxford, Weld, or Battlefield.

Henry's Taiwan and Seattle Herbs & Grocery officially closed this month after being long time staples at the corner of 12th Ave & Jackson St.
The owners blame socialist Mayor Katie Wilson's inability to handle crime and homeless drug encampments in the area.
Property values are also plummeting, threatening to further destroy the core identity of this Asian American community.
