SURPRISE! We did a new @iRacing #Downshift. @west_greg @kevinbobbitt and I talk about @theautoroad. Then we decided it might be better to have an expert talk about it. So we called in @TravisPastrana. Listen now: iRacing.com/downshift

Nobody with a single ounce of actual taste wants this.
Spotify just announced a feature that could either save the music industry or destroy it. Starting as early as Q1 2027, Spotify Premium subscribers will be able to use AI to transform any participating artist’s song into a completely different version. Turn a folk ballad into a dance track. Make a hip-hop song sound acoustic. Generate a cover where one artist’s voice performs another artist’s song. Remix a pop hit into lo-fi study music. Create the version of your favorite song that only existed in your head until now. The remixes will be uploaded directly to Spotify. They’ll appear in playlists. They’ll count toward the original song’s chart position. And most importantly the original artist will earn royalties every time someone listens to a fan-created remix of their work. Spotify has already signed a landmark licensing deal with Universal Music Group the world’s largest record label. Negotiations with Sony Music and Warner Music are ongoing. The feature will cost an additional $4–$5/month on top of Spotify Premium. And analysts project 7–8% of American subscribers will adopt it by 2028. This is not Suno or Udio generating music from text prompts. This is fans remixing real songs by real artists with the artists’ permission, on the world’s largest streaming platform, with royalties flowing back to the creators. A music industry analyst who’s covered streaming economics for 15 years told her team something after reading the licensing agreement that reframed how she understood the future of recorded music. “Spotify just turned 640 million listeners into 640 million potential remixers. The question isn’t whether people will use it they will. The question is whether paying artists for fan remixes solves the economics of streaming or creates a world where the original recording is worth less than the infinite remixes generated from it.” Here’s what Spotify’s AI remix feature actually is, who wins, who loses, and why this might be the most consequential decision in the music industry since the launch of streaming itself 🧵

As someone else who got called into impromptu booth duty this year, there’s nothing quite like the adrenaline rush. Props to @kaitlynvincie for rocking it.
A few seconds before we came back on-air we had an audio issue in the booth and I was instructed to step in suddenly and do some solo play-by-play during qualifying from pit lane. Adrenaline was off the charts, but I’m glad I have evidence of this. 😂 First time for everything. @NASCARONFOX

You guys wanna know what would make keeping the #NASCAR yellow line rule real easy? If the rule was no touching the line, period. Let’s quit making it harder than it needs to be by trying to officiate to intent or the visibility of two tires.

I feel like that’s based on kind of a common human understanding of how lines work. Like yeah in other sports if you touch the out of bounds line at all it’s just out. No debate. But also, like… the solid center median on a two lane road? Kinda the same deal right?

If he scores, Miami has two minutes to score, get an onside kick, and score again. Is it likely they pull it off vs BFlo’s D? Nope. However, by going down they guaranteed Miami wouldn’t even get a shot at it. Gambling has ruined common ball knowledge.
Tj Hockenson slide instead of a TD was 100% inside call from Vegas. How does making it a 2 score game for the dolphins with under 2 minutes not sound the same if not better as running clock out clock. Yes I had Vikings -10, but this doesn’t make sense from a logical standpoint. #NFL #Vikings #VegasCall #SKOL
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
TJ Hockenson slid short of the end zone after a first-down catch to run out the clock and guarantee the 15-10 win, as the Dolphins had no timeouts; this was the pre-planned team play per Hockenson and coach Kevin O'Connell. foxsports.com/articles/nfl/u… thevikingage.com/tj-hockenson-e… startribune.com/miami-dolphins… sports.yahoo.com/nfl/betting/ar…

It’s weeks like these where you recognize that this platform has been a net negative for the racing community. Lot of people feeding the outrage machine for clicks… no shame, no decency, ZERO intelligent thought. Think I’m outta here for a bit. ✌️

Last night finally turned me into a North Wilkesboro believer. If you don’t think that Logano and Hamlin playing cat and mouse through lapped traffic on such a long run was epic… you must hate those drivers more than you like the sport. That was badass! #NASCAR

I’m sure the soccer community will rake me over the coals for this, but I think stoppage time is one of the dumbest regulations in any sport. Imagine having no idea when the game actually ends because you can’t bother to just stop the clock? Antiquated, in a bad way.
