Shameful and selfish. It's not about judging whether every Canadian soldier was on the right side of history by your own ideological standards.

Every story like this, from the Hudson’s Bay Company to Tim Hortons and Stelco, proves that corporatism and protectionism were more than ideological commitments of the Fathers of Confederation. State ownership and Crown corporations are necessities of national sovereignty and security.

We are bleeding our technology and AI companies to US giants who want to prevent competition just like was done with Stelco. They’re acquiring fast and early to stop us in our tracks.
Canada pioneered AI, but now we get none of the rents.
Why is this government allowing this?
I dont like that Carney even talked about increasing immigration but I feel like I'm going to lose my mind whenever I see another "he wants to bring 15 million in!" Like omfg he never said that. Can we please keep our criticisms rooted in reality??

Not a Liberal voter, but this is correct. If a US company buys Stelco in order to euthanize it so they can move more product from Ohio, is that the kind of investment we even want anyway?
BTW, this is a vindication of Sir John A. Macdonald's National Policy...

He acquired Stelco to prevent Canadian steel and workers from competing with Cleveland-Cliffs.
How many US acquisitions of Canadian companies do you think are for this reason?
This is why we must strengthen the Investment Canada Act and increase usage and review.

He intends to sell Stelco “in a year or so,” once he “makes some money.”
He intends to strip it of assets and value and then offload the rump—true private equity style.
Canada would have to bail out that rump or entirely lose domestic steel production.
Nationalise Stelco now.

Great move honestly.
Not sure why anyone bothers electing any conservatives for anywhere in Canada if they won’t at least do this.
This is really the bare minimum.

The Cleveland-Cliffs & Stelco story is not unique.
The CEO is just a brash idiot who said the quiet part out loud.
American capital regularly buys Canadian companies and weakens them to prevent competition.
This is a major reason why our productivity is suffering.

So, if I'm understanding this correctly...
We let this guy buy out a Canadian-owned steel company, because it was too competitive against his own business?
Are we stupid?
The biggest issue with math engagement bait is implicit multiplication exists, and where exactly that falls within the order of operations opens a new can of worms that not even literal mathematicians agree on. Well, thats my issue with it, but it makes absolutely fantastic bait.

North America is added to the site: europe-party-map.vercel.app. North America was more rushed, so it may not look as good as Europe, but I do plan to improve it and add more continents (also again, not how i'd actually vote, im showing what the parties look like on the map).
