Heading to #Devcon8 in Mumbai?
We're hosting an Ethereum Classic meetup on Nov 2, right after Ethereum Cypherpunk Congress #3.
We'll talk proof-of-work, client diversity, cypherpunk values, EVM symbiosis, and a lot more.
Free and open to all. RSVP below.

Ethereum Classic draws on three chains:
#Bitcoin proved proof-of-work money can work. ETC makes it programmable.
#Ethereum built the EVM. Most ETC upgrades bring in its EIPs.
#Zcash brought privacy to proof of work. Since 2019, ETC can verify the zk-SNARKs behind it.
Proof-of-work, the EVM and zero-knowledge proofs on one chain: what would you build?
The 2019 upgrade was Atlantis ECIP-1054, which added the alt_bn128 precompiles. Ethereum chose that curve partly to reuse Zcash’s work.

After Ethereum’s Merge to proof-of-stake, ETC became the largest proof-of-work smart contract platform.
“Since ETC has become the apex predator of Ethash / Etchash, it hasn’t suffered any 51% attacks.”
- @Istora, PoW Beyond Bitcoin panel at WDMS Hong Kong
Hashrate: ~2 TH/s in 2020 → ~190-210 Th/s today
Etchash for rent on NiceHash: ~0.1 TH/s
This year’s Ethereum Cypherpunk Congress theme is The Ancestral Fork.
For a chain that kept running after a fork ten years ago, that’s hard to pass up. We’ll be at the Congress in Mumbai on Nov 2, and here’s why.
At TOKEN2049, Josh Swihart (@jswihart) pitched Zcash as a parallel polis: new institutions built beside the old ones. That’s $ETC’s story too. In 2016, a small group disagreed with the hard fork and kept the original chain running beside #Ethereum.
We’re also there to listen. Most ETC upgrades bring in Ethereum’s EIPs, so Ethereum’s research and tooling carry over to ETC. #Devcon8 is where the people behind that work will be.
Come find us, then join our #EthereumClassic meetup nearby once the Congress wraps. Any chain, any background.
What’s one question you’d want us to ask the people there? Reply and we’ll bring it.

Not one day in September went by without a new smart contract deployed on #EthereumClassic.
• Total: 1,309
• Daily average: ~44
• Busiest day: 10 Sept, 142
Same EVM you already build on. From our public BigQuery dataset. The query is in the reply.

Query below:
SELECT
DATE(block_timestamp) AS day,
COUNT(*) AS contracts_deployed
FROM `classix-etc-data.crypto_ethereum_classic.traces`
WHERE trace_type = 'create'
AND status = 1
AND block_timestamp >= TIMESTAMP('2026-09-01')
AND block_timestamp < TIMESTAMP('2026-10-01')
GROUP BY day
ORDER BY day
Of the seven largest proof-of-work chains by market cap, only one runs the EVM: #EthereumClassic.
If you build in Solidity and want proof-of-work underneath with substantial hashrate behind it, the list starts and ends there.
Same contracts. Same tooling. Chain ID 61.

ETC Community Call #62 🍀 Bunker Mode
We talked in-depth about the quantum and AI threat to ECDSA and where $ETC stands, what's planned for the next core-geth v1.12.24 release, a look back at our trip to #TOKEN2049 and a lot more.
Listen below. 🎧
ETC Community Call #62 is live.🔥
• Where ETC stands on the quantum threat to ECDSA.
• What’s planned for the next core-geth release.
• Are preconfirmations and native stablecoins a good fit for $ETC?

The 2016 fork split the chain. It didn’t split the research.
ETC upgrades keep bringing in Ethereum EIPs: Byzantium with Atlantis, Istanbul with Phoenix, most recently Shanghai with Spiral.
#Ethereum’s research makes $ETC better, and every EIP that crosses over gets a second life on proof of work.
We’d like more ideas to cross the fork in both directions.

#VeriFriday-002
One of the best ways to contribute to Ethereum Classic is to run a node. 📡
This guide walks you step by step through getting set up and building core-geth from source. 🧑🏻💻
#VeriFriday-002
Running your own node is the difference between believing the chain and knowing it.
No third party. No API key. No one in between.
It’s the most underrated thing anyone in this community can do.

#Bitcoin proved proof-of-work money works.
#Ethereum made it programmable.
#Zcash keeps pushing proof-of-work forward on privacy and payment speed.
#EthereumClassic added zk-proof verification in 2019, and is still learning from all three.
That’s proof-of-work symbiosis.

Ethereum aims for “centuries-long cryptographic security, via hash-based schemes.” For its consensus, that means new keys for every validator.
Ethereum Classic’s proof-of-work already rests on hashes. Its consensus needs no migration.
Same EVM. Same Solidity. Same tooling. Same contracts.

1/ Project Triforce is a grid of Ethereum Classic nodes we run. It serves the public RPC and watches the network: client diversity, reorgs, the mempool and every peer it can see.
Four clients. Three providers. Three regions. Three sync modes.
Here’s why each number is there. 🧵

Zcash’s preconfirmations proposal: merchants get a signed receipt that a payment is on its way into a block.
Accept payments in seconds, not after confirmations. No consensus change, and it fits any proof-of-work chain, including Ethereum Classic.
Is it worth building on $ETC?

3/ Three providers (OVH, Cherry Servers and Latitude.sh) across the Americas, EMEA and APAC. No two nodes share a physical facility.
rpc.classix.dev sends you to the nearest region automatically.
4/ Three sync modes: archive, full and snap. They should always agree on the canonical chain. When they don’t, the dashboard shows it straight away.
That signal is the point.
